In Loving Memory of Dr. Vy James Kotlewski

Dr. Vy James Kotlewski, a beloved dentist, passed away on November 7, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of knowledge, skills, and family traditions. He was 74 years old.

Born on August 7, 1951, Dr. Vy Kotlewski grew up in South Milwaukee, where his early curiosity with tools and fixing everything, led him to pursue a career in dentistry. He earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from Marquette University in 1975, and practiced dentistry for 48 years, 43 of them spent at Dental Associates. Dr. Kotlewski provided outstanding care to thousands of patients, specializing in dentures and implants, and always held himself to the highest standards of professional care and perfectionism.

Dr. Kotlewski was more than just a dentist, he was a trusted mentor, a dedicated friend, and a wealth of knowledge. He was known for his meticulous attention to detail, and took pride in his work. He was a lifelong learner and his commitment to excellence earned him the admiration of his colleagues and respect within the dental community.

Vy Kotlewski was a devoted husband, father, step-father, grandfather and friend to all who knew him.  He is survived by his first wife, Bonnie (Paul Sekulovich) Bessler Kotlewski, his beloved children Keri (Pat) Boland, Jeff Kotlewski, Tim Kotlewski, and Mike Kotlewski, grandchildren Caden Boland and Kinley Boland, sister Gloria (Morgan) Newton, nieces and nephews, and his furry grandchildren Sniper and KC.

Also survived by his loving second family; his wife Kristin (aka “Osgood”) Osgood Kotlewski, his stepchildren Grace (Daryn) Claussen, Livvy (Lane) Osgood, and Reese Osgood, and his cats Atlas, Emmie, and Chevy.

Vy had a deep love for Wisconsin sports and was the truest Badger fan to the end!  Badger Vy, Dr. Vy, Vegas Vy, Christmas Vy, Dentist Vy, Vacation Vy, and Handyman Vy.  Vy was all of these and so much more! Vy was a source of joy and happiness and will always be remembered for his dedication to those he loved.  He was everyone’s “Mr. Fix it” and knew how to create, build, or fix just about anything.  He owned every tool that existed and always had a spare.  Everyone who met him, loved him and he was always willing to lend a helping hand.  Vy was known for his wonderful sense of humor and brought joy and laughter to every gathering with his quick wit.  We will treasure the many good times we shared as the loving and wonderful human he was. Vy is our guardian angel and gratefully he is now at peace.

Vy is also survived by countless friends, colleagues, and patients who will miss him dearly. He was preceded in death by his father Vilas James Kotlewski, and his mother Mary Kashian Kotlewski.

A celebration of Dr. Vy Kotlewski’s life will be held on November 24, 2025 at Heritage Funeral Home in Oak Creek.  Visitation with family is at 4:00 pm and the celebration of Vy’s life will be at 5:00 pm.

I am so very sorry to hear about Doc’s passing. Prayers and hugs to his family and friends. Dr K. was amazing to work with, he always kept me on my toes. He made me laugh. He was so easy to talk with, especially when it came to football. He looked forward to sponsoring myself and team in womens football. I think of him often. May he rest in peace and continue to live in the hearts of all who knew him.

My name is Mary Ann Panosian RUNDLE. I grew up with Vy and his family from kindergarten until the 12th grade. Our family did everything with his family every holiday. Every occasion we were either at their house or our house. I had the privilege of coming in contact again with Vy at St. Luke’s Medical Center. It was a privilege to sit and talk with me for a while and catch up on years gone by. I feel very blessed that I had that time with him.. My heart ache said he’s gone too soon.🫶
