Valentino Rocco
LaPorte

Passed away peacefully at the age of 91 on September 5, 2022.  Born to Salvatore and Filippa in 1931, Val grew up on Milwaukee’s lower east side with his cherished brothers and sisters who called him “Tino.”

He was a loving and devoted husband to Pam for over 42 years.  Beloved dad to Gina (Basil Maglaris) and the late Laura Frauen.  Dear “grampy” of Isabella and Beckett Maglaris and Chris and Katy Frauen.

Val was deeply honored to have served his country in the US Air Force during the Korean War as an aircraft mechanic. While serving, Val invented an efficient gun-sight cleaning tool which earned him several letters of commendation and a mention in Readers Digest. After serving, Val worked for North Central Airlines, taught ballroom dancing, performed local standup comedy and played the accordion in a musical trio. He then embarked on a long career as a commercial real estate broker. After retirement Val worked in guest relations at Columbia Hospital for several years.  He remained very active in veteran’s groups and enjoyed a life-long passion for military history and aircraft.

Val was proud of his Sicilian heritage and family was everything to him.  He will be deeply missed by his many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.  A true gentleman, Val never failed to take care of a friend or family member in need. He had a terrific sense of humor, was a great storyteller and was never happier than celebrating with loved ones.

Please raise a glass and toast Val’s long and excellent life at your next family gathering or while listening to your favorite Frank Sinatra song.

Per Val’s wishes, private burial services were held at Wisconsin Memorial Park with military honors.
