Tony Paul Lo Cicero

Tony Lo Cicero was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, a brother, and loyal friend whose life was defined by love, strength, and a generous heart. He was the husband and best friend of Barbara; the beloved father of Amanda, Andrea, and Amie; and the proud grandfather of Anthony, Jordan, Avery, Hector, Aaleah, Isaiah, and a granddaughter on the way. He was the brother of Michael, Josephine, Vince, Rosario, Clara, Connie, and Daniel, and is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many dear friends, especially his best friend, Nito.

Tony was mechanically inclined and could fix just about anything, especially cars. He approached everything he did with passion and purpose: if something was worth doing, he believed it was worth doing right. His intelligence, determination, and practical talent made him someone others could count on, whether they needed help with a vehicle, a problem around the house, or simply a steady hand in a difficult moment.

Tony and Barbara first met at her sister’s house when Barbara was only 17, and from the beginning he showed the caring, protective spirit that would become one of the hallmarks of his life and relationship with her. He helped Barbara when she needed him, took her in, and built a life with her full of devotion, loyalty, and love. Tony and Barbara already had three girls before he finally asked her to marry him. And while their marriage didn’t last – their bond was so deep, lasting, and unmistakable that they kept reconnecting over the years. Tony’s greatest joy was his family. He would do anything for – as he called them “his girls” and he was always quick to point out that “his girls” included Barbara. They were his life and his reason for being – and to them he was a hero – he was larger-than-life.

Tony had a beautiful heart. He was kind, loyal, and fiercely loving. He would do anything for his family or friends, and those who knew him never had to wonder where they stood with him. Straightforward and honest, he spoke his mind, yet always from a place of deep feeling and conviction. When Tony loved, he loved fiercely.

He was also the life of the party, the kind of person who could get everyone talking and make people feel at ease. He was an ice-breaker, a storyteller, and a presence people remembered. He enjoyed simple favorites like George Webb’s, Culver’s butter burger followed by a scoop or two of butter pecan, and the color green. He loved motorcycles and had many bikes over the years. Last year, he realized his dream of getting a Harley.

Tony faced health problems throughout his life, including Crohn’s disease which meant living with a colostomy bag since he was 18. He never allowed those challenges to slow him down or define him. He lived with resilience, grit, humor, and a determination to keep going.

Tony was a man of deep faith. He relied on his faith in God to give him the strength to face the many health challenges he faced over the years with a quiet grace and dignity that was quintessential “Tony.”

Tony shared an extraordinarily special relationship with his mother. He was doted on by her – most likely because of the pain and problems Crohn’s disease caused him in his youth. He returned that love with the same care and devotion, helping her around the house and remaining close to her until her untimely passing.

Tony will be remembered for his loyalty, his honesty, and the way he made people feel seen, protected, and cared for. His family and friends will carry forward the memories of his laughter, his strength, his big heart, and the unforgettable way he lived and loved.
