Donald Martin Suhm, 75, passed away peacefully in his sleep on July 21, 2026. He was born on June 14, 1951.
Don was the beloved husband of Mary Suhm. Earlier in life, he was married to Doris Suhm, with whom he raised their two sons. Doris preceded him in death in 2004.
He was the loving father of Jason (Carrie) Suhm and Steven (Nicole) Suhm, and the proud grandfather of five grandchildren. Don was also a cherished stepfather to Kevin (Jessie), Rusty (Danielle), and Ashley (Chris), and was part of a large, blended family that included many additional grandchildren.
Don will be remembered for his remarkable mechanical ability and his deep love of the outdoors. A brilliant mechanic, he spent his career repairing everything from small engines to large industrial machinery. He also continued repairing equipment on the side, not only because of his skill, but because he genuinely loved the work. Don was an excellent fisherman, an accomplished deer hunter, and someone who felt most at home in nature.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; his sons and their families; his stepchildren and their families; and many other relatives and friends who will remember him with love.
In accordance with Don’s wishes, he will be cremated. A Celebration of Don’s Life will be held Wednesday, August 5th from 5-9PM at Joe’s K Ranch, 4840 S. Whitnall Ave.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Don’s memory may be made to SkillsUSA, supporting the next generation of skilled trades professionals, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
Don was an amazing brother-in-law. He taught me to hunt when I was just 15 years old. Always made me laugh when he and my other brother in law Mike got together. He was a terrific guy and always had time for anyone. I had just spoke to him a week before he passed and he was joking around as usual. He will be greatly missed by all.
I met Donnie when he was 15 years old. We had such fun times over the years. Donnie always made me laugh and through good times and bad times we managed to support each other. Traveling together and raising our children together, it was always special. Mike and I have such beautiful memories to keep us comforted. Loved you Donnie 💔
Don rest in peace my friend. You are deeply missed. Their is a big void at Blains without you. Im glad I got to know you over these past 12 years. You were always a very kind and sweet man.
