STEVEN L. JULIEN

July 9, 1955 – March 30, 2024

Steve slipped the bonds of this Earth and finally flew higher than his beloved A-7 into the loving arms of Jesus.

Raised in Wisconsin with a work ethic instilled by loving parents, a great sense of humor, and the ability to share and never lie brought on being one of the five.

Steve joined the US Navy shortly after high school and was stationed at Cecil Field Florida attached to the VA 81 Sunliners, a squadron on the USS Forrestal of which he was immensely proud. He drew his love for airplanes from his father, and anyone who ever stopped to speak with him on the street knew all conversation would stop when a plane would fly over and he would look upward and would be able to identify every aspect of the plane and every historical significance.

After his service with the Navy he decided that the cold winters of Wisconsin were not as much to his liking as he thought and decamped for South Florida where he remained until his move to Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas in 2009. Steve was a valuable member of the Horseshoe Bend Community in that he was helpful, gracious and kind. He was an active member of Faith Presbyterian Church and was on the Airport Commission. He had a successful business, Julien Paint and Repair for several years and had a loyal following.

Steve’s family was most important to him. He loved the big Christmas celebrations at his parents until their passing and was always thrilled when he got to get together with his sons Derek and Dillon. Beside his love for airplanes, family and his church, we can’t forget about Steve’s love for the Green Bay Packers which he was a stockholder.

Serious health concerns saw Steve go full circle back to Wisconsin to the warm embrace of his brother and sisters. Steve has been greeted on the other side by his father James (Big Jim), his much loved and adored mother Marion (nee Dean), and his sister Suzanne (who is baking him cookies as we speak) as well of a host of other friends and relatives who have gone on before. Those left with the promise of someday seeing him again are his sons Derek (Eric Schmidt), Dillon (Courtney), precious granddaughters Evie and Chloe, sister-angels Paula (James Gaa) and Renee (Troy Westcott), big little brother and hunting buddy for life Dean (Alison) as well as numerous nieces and nephews that he has watched blossom into wonderful adults with families of their own.

He will be missed with sadness by the threads that wove in and out of his life particularly Marsha Pillars and lifelong friend Guy Lindstrom.

Services will be held on 5/10/ 2024, at Heritage Funeral Home, 16880 W. National Ave., New Berlin, WI. Visitation will begin at 4:00pm, Memorial Service at 6:00pm

Interment will be at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery 21731 Spring Street, Union Grove, WI at a future date.
