Eva M. Schattner passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on April 5th, 2024.

Eva was the daughter of the late Eugene and Julia Morelli (nee Vena). She grew up on the family farm in Paris township, graduating from Union Grove High School. She worked as a secretary at Modine until she was united in marriage to William L. Schattner Jr. on July 28, 1956. After raising her four children she returned to part time concurrent employment at Metro Auto Auction and 7 Mile Fair for 30+ years, retiring at the age of 80. She understood the value of work and inspired this ethic to her family. She was a devoted wife to Bill, her children, grandchildren & great grandchildren and a faithful member of St. Louis Catholic Church. Helping out on the family farm as Bill’s farm hand, whether driving a tractor or walking out to the back 40 to deliver his lunch. Baking, crocheting, gardening, playing cards, polka music and dancing were some of her favorite activities. Sadly, Alzheimers took away the spirit and memory of this wonderful woman, but can never take away her dignity and the love we shared.

Surviving are her children: Sandi (Blaine) Pfeffer, Cyndi (Jim) Braun, Kathy Brehm, William (Cindy) Schattner III. Grandchildren: Tiffany, Ryan (Lisa) Nielsen, Craig, Cory (Jill) Braun, Bryan Brehm (Rachael), Andy Brehm (Gabrielle), Bill (Liz) Schattner & April (Paul) Kennedy. Great-grandchildren: Clayton, Oliver, Brooklynn, Greyson, Nate, Drake & Conor. Brother Ralph Sr.; sisters in law: Marlene Morelli & Charlotte Bruinsma; brother-in-law Thomas (Denise) Barker and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Bill; siblings: Catherine & Ben Morelli; father-in law William Schattner Sr.; mother’s in law: Mary & Sally Schattner; son in law Dan Nielsen; sister in law Rose Barker and brother in law Earl Bruinsma.

The family wishes to express gratitude to the sisters & staff at St. Monica’s Memory Care, St. Croix Hospice & the Ben Morelli family for their love and unwavering support.

Funeral services will be held at ST. LOUIS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 13207 County Rd. G, Caledonia, WI on Thursday April 11th, 2024 with visitation from 9-11am, followed by church service and Christian burial to follow in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers donations to the Alzheimer’s Association are suggested.

What a beautiful tribute to a beautiful person.💜 She taught her children to be kind and love others, and that family was her most cherished legacy. She will he remembered for generations as an example of how to give with a joyous heart and that everyone you meet not a stranger but is an opportunity to demonstrate love and share her beautiful gifts of hospitality and faith. Thank you Eva 💜💜
