Norbert L.
Riegert

Riegert, Norbert L.
Husband, father, teacher, counselor, farmer, sailor, author, gardener, world-traveler, carpenter, winemaker, storyteller, delightfully fun grandpa and great-grandpa – a truly full and exciting 92 years!
Nubs is now rejoicing in his reunion with the loves of his life Barbara (nee Coyne) and Alice Michels, his crazy and fun brother Harold, lovely sister Lou, his wonderful son-in-law Bryan Dudley, and sweet granddaughter-in-law Alexia Dudley. Of all his accomplishments, none is greater than the living legacy he leaves of 10 children: Mary (Dick), John (Carole), Ann (Bryan), Robert (Tracey), Thomas (Margie), Michael (Angie), James (Eileen), Peggy (Dennis), Catherine (Richard), and Bridget (Art). His 31 grandchildren: Charlie (Kristen), Donny (Alexia), Rachel (Brandon), John, Ben, Justin, Jeremy, Beckie, Molly, Anneliese (Greg), Michael, Sam, Elizabeth, Caitlin, Evan, Sara, Patrick, Maureen, Rosemary, Jake, Lauren, Natalie, Bridget, Gabi, Killian, James, and Cole. His 7 great-grandchildren: Bella, Laney, Jack, Sam, Meghan, Amy, and Owen. He leaves behind his younger brother Ray and a multitude of nieces, nephews, and friends including his stepchildren Mary, Kathy, Steve, and their families.
Nub’s second home was Pius XI Catholic High School. As a man of strong faith he taught and counseled countless students and their families for more than 3 decades. He was tireless in his noble effort to increase racial equality at Pius and throughout the Milwaukee community.
The Riegert family appreciates the compassion shown our father by the Linden Grove staff, especially Samantha, both Nicks, Zach, and Marissa. The special care from the Vitas Hospice staff offered him fun along with great care. Thanks to Michelle, Theresa, Christy, and the bubbly Julie.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, from 4 – 5:45 PM, at ST. MATTHIAS CATHOLIC CHURCH (9300 W. Beloit Rd.). Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 6 PM. Interment St. Matthias Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to Pius XI Catholic High School are appreciated.

Dear Riegert Family,

I’ve been struggling to find the right words to say to your family upon hearing about the loss of your dad. The older members of my family can honestly say we were lucky to have a second set of parents. Your mom and dad meant more to us than you will ever know!! May they be at peace with the Lord and reunited with family and friends who have gone before. You all are in our thoughts and prayers.

Love you guys,

Christopher Whelan

Many a lunch, Nubs and I would sit together at Pius XI–hardly saying a word, just happy to be in each others present.
Nubs’ profound love and understanding of our students, make me a better teacher–
I continue to teach today–as Nubs would want me to do.

Gracias por todos, Nubs,
Ten un buen día allá con Díos

Con Cariño,

Dear Riegert family,

I just wanted to send my sincere condolences to all of you for the loss of your father! I just found the obit today, or I would’ve attended the visitation/funeral. Looks like a man I wish I had known! Great to know that you all have strong family to support each other! My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Sincerely,
Fred Braby
