Tuesday, May 19, 2026 at the age of 51. Beloved husband of Nicole M. Chastain (nee Bertling). Cherished father of Brittany and Brandon Chastain. Loving brother of Patrick (Robin) Chastain, Holly Hedrick, Cameron Gibson and Ryan Minton. Dear son-in-law of Denise Bertling, brother-in-law of Dawn Bertling. Further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Preceded in death by his parents William and Paula Chastain and father-in-law Robert J. Bertling.
Memorial gathering Friday, June 5, 2026 at the Heritage Funeral Home 9200 South 27th Street, Oak Creek, WI 53154 from 4:00 PM until time of the Memorial Service at 6:00 PM.
Joe it was an honor serving alongside you may you rest easy brother we have the watch.
I always looked up to you and sought leadership and knowledge while you my Leader Petty Officer. Fair winds and following seas.
BM1 Chastain. I cannot believe it. Only 51! It was definitely a pleasure serving with you. May God rest your soul and provide your family the comfort and grace it needs right now! I remember seeing you a couple of times on the job at cemeteries while I was performing funeral honors for fallen Navy veterans.
To my cousin Wayne, I will miss our chats and calls. .. Our conversations about family history and the laughter we shared. I miss you so much.
