Robert A. Kutschera

Just after completing his 91st year, Robert “Bob” Kutschera departed his position on earth to begin a new life on May 19, 2026

Robert is survived by his spunky red-headed wife, married just shy of 60 years, Diane (Theys) Kutschera, brother Carl Kutschera (Marcia), and his 5 children: Andrew (Lisa), Stephen (Brooke), Jerome (Kara), Aaron (Tammy), and Lara (Matthew) Block; Along with his grandchildren: Spencer, Ben, Joe, Naomi, Abigail, Kyria, Zoe, Hannah, Evan, Elliot, Leo, and Zach – whom he is now spending time with. Also, Chaime, who has been adopted in heart as part of the Kutschera clan.

Bob graduated from Boy’s Tech, Milwaukee with a gift for Mechanical Design, which led him into business alongside his father and brother at Kutschera & Son’s Design Co. He dedicated himself to the family business until retiring in his 70’s.

Music was Bob’s life from an early age.  He started playing the violin at age 9 and continued playing until only weeks before his passing.  Bob also mastered the bass guitar and the mandolin. He performed for more than 40 years with The Melody Men, a band that began as a polka group and expanded to weddings.  It was common for him to bring home left-over wedding cake wrapped in paper napkins, a Sunday morning staple before breakfast. Bob was also a devoted musician at church for over 50 years, playing both violin and bass.  His musical lineage continues on through his children and his grandchildren.

Bob was a gentle soul who deeply loved people and could effortlessly strike up a conversation with anyone.  Some of his greatest joys were found simply being in the presence of family and friends, sharing meals, stories, laughter, and everyday moments together.

He loved food and sharing it with friends and family.  At one point, he took several cooking classes at the local community college: learning Cajun, Greek, Indian, and European Tortes. This guy made it to 91, and NEVER held back on the butter!!!

Above all else, Bob loved Jesus deeply and easily engaged in conversation with how much that relationship meant to him, often bringing him to tears.  He loved hearing from others and their walks in faith.  Never hesitated to stop and pray with someone in need, this was mainstay in family interactions.  Jesus was a close companion who closely walked with him every moment of his life.

When attending Bob’s Celebration of Life, please bring your Bible.

I’m torn between joy of Uncle now being with our Lord, and so sad of he leaving us here…..

My condolence to you, Diane, & your family. Bob was a quiet, humble soul. Many people knew him, even if they didn’t know his name other than “That guy who plays the violin (viola) at church”! When in Bob’s presence I felt a calm & joy in the Trinity that Bob simply shared by being there. Diane, you & Bob were/ are (?) quite the “power couple” in our Lord! Bob’s physical presence will be missed for a long time, but his spiritual presence will be here forever.
    With Love & Prayers,
    Mary

We have known Bob and Diane for many years….since our children were growing up. We have enjoyed having dinner together and exchanging stories…We will always remember Bob as being such a warm, quiet, gifted soul. We always enjoyed hearing him play the violin at mass and watching him enjoy that special gift. He will be truly missed by so many…and his deep faith has touched us all.

My condolences to Diane and her family. My husband, Phil Flasch played in the band “Melody Men” along with Bob for many years. He often commented on what an excellent musician Bob was. Phil truly enjoyed his musical friendship with Bob.

Dear Diane, I’ll always remember the first time I met you and Bob as Greeters at Beth Messiah Congregation. Bob always shared John 3:16 with everyone he had a chance to talk with. He is in the arms of God now. I’ll miss him; but am so happy for him! My deepest condolences to you and your beautiful family.

Diane, we are so sorry for your profound loss, but at the same time, we are filled with joy that Bob is with Yeshua. We loved talking with him at oneg each week at Beth Messiah. He always had a smile on his face and sweet things to share. I foundly remember him playing his violin one night at our home for Shabbat and look forward to hearing him play again in the Kingdom. May Adonai fill you with his perfect Shalom until you both are reunited.
