(Nee Rasmussen) Passed away on March 30, 2026, age 54 years. Loving wife of Daniel Robert Smith. Proud mother of the late Tanner Chase Smith, Parker James Smith, Hannah Crystal (Sebastian Bates) Smith. Dear daughter of Robert “Sonny” and Joanne Rasmussen. Sister of Aron (Amanda Ossmann) Rasmussen. Sister-in-law of John(Cindy), Jerry(Chris), Kathy, David(Deb). Also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Preceded in death by her father-in-law Floyd I. “Smitty” Smith, her mother-in-law Evelyn M. Smith, her cats Pixie and Lily.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, April 8th from 5-7PM at Heritage Funeral Homes, 9200 S. 27th St. and on Thursday, April 9th from 10-11AM at Mt. Pleasant Lutheran Church, 1700 S. Green Bay Road, Racine. A Funeral Service will follow at 11AM. Interment Caledonia Memorial Park.
Janell gave one final gift of life to many as an organ donor.
The family would like to thank the staff at Elmbrook Hospital, the ICU unit, and the Organ Donation team for all their care.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin or Autism United of Wisconsin, are appreciated.
Sonny & Joanne we are deeply saddened after learning about the loss of Janelle. She was always so vivacious with a red-headed spitfire personality. Time & again she & Aron come up in family conversations about when they would babysit for Michelle and Ryan.
