Herbert D. Lederhaus

It is with profound sadness, yet with hearts full of cherished memories, that we announce the passing of Herb Lederhaus, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Herb departed peacefully on July 21, 2025, just days after celebrating his 87th birthday. He has found eternal peace with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and is joyfully reunited with his son, Randy and many brothers and sisters.
Born in Greenfield on July 18, 1938, Herb was the 5th of 11 children to the late Herbert and Viola (nee Langfeldt) Lederhaus. From the moment he entered this world, he brought warmth and dedication to those around him. On June 30, 1962, he married the love of his life, Bonnie Lederhaus, who lovingly cared for him throughout their remarkable journey together. Their more than 63 years of marriage stand as a beautiful testament to enduring love, partnership, and unwavering support, not to mention a strong example to their family.
Herb’s greatest joy in life was his family. He deeply cherished his children: his son Randy, who preceded him in death seven years ago, and his son Steve (Kelly). He was also a devoted and adoring grandfather to Andrew(Lexi),  Jacob (Jordyn) and Katie. His greatest love, however, was reserved for his three great-granddaughters: Evelyn (2 ½ years old), Olive (1 ½ years old), and Anna (1 year old). His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were truly the light of his life, and he treasured every moment spent with them. He leaves behind many loved ones including 4 siblings and dozens of nieces and nephews.
In 1980, Herb and Bonnie made Muskego, Wisconsin, their home after Herb helped his cousin Duaine establish Muskego Marine. He dedicated many years to the business, and following Duaine’s passing, Herb’s entrepreneurial spirit shone through. In 1996, he founded his own venture, Muskego Dock and Boat Lifts, continuing the Hewitt line. This new chapter also afforded him precious time with his beloved grandchildren, a dream come true.
Herb was truly a man of many talents, always ready to lend a helping hand. If something needed building, especially a recreation room for friends and family, Herb was the quintessential craftsman. His skill and willingness to help were well-known and deeply appreciated by all who knew him. He was also an active and faithful member of Hales Corners Lutheran Church for over 25 years, where he found a meaningful community of friends and spiritual nourishment.
Herb’s legacy of love, dedication to family, diligent work, and generous spirit will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him. We will deeply miss his kind spirit, his warm smile, and his unwavering presence.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 1st, 2025 at HALES CORNERS LUTHERAN CHURCH (12300 W. Janesville Rd.) from 10:30am until time of memorial service at 12:00pm.
Memorials may be directed to Hales Corners Lutheran Church Foundation or the American Cancer Society.
