Spaetti Helen J. (nee Reger)
Called home to the Lord on Monday, September 15 at the age of 75 years. Dear Mother of Michele (Geoff) Zernicke and Andrea (Paul) Jonas. Loving Grammy of Faith, Josephine and Dominic. Sister of Marcia (Larry) Nast and sister-in-law to Karla Reger. Also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many dear friends. Helen was preceded in death by her loving husband, Theodore “Ted” Spaetti, by her brother Edward Reger, and by her parents, William and Myrtle.
Helen was born on September 22, 1949, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to William and Myrtle Reger. She attended Bay View High School in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Helen met the love of her life, Ted Spaetti, to whom she was married on August 8, 1970.
In 1973, after Ted was honorably discharged from the Navy, Helen and Ted moved to Helen’s hometown of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Several years later, after graduating from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee with a degree in accounting, Helen began working for the IRS, where she worked for the ensuing 20 years until her retirement in 2011.
Helen’s interests included crafting, playing piano, listening to classical music, and puzzling. Traveling the world with Ted was always a highlight. Their trips were many, securing lifelong memories with those they had the privilege of traveling with. She enjoyed going to Andrea and Michele’s sporting events through their high school years and the parent camaraderie they shared. Helen and Ted’s 30 plus years spent at Lake Arrowhead with their family as well as dear friends, Tom and Karen McCormick, were incredibly special and a home away from home. She cherished her time with her beloved “Kackle Club” and was a passionate fan of the Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers. Helen valued intimate interactions and had a close inner circle of family and friends whom she loved deeply and protected ferociously.
Helen’s unique wit, sense of humor, and uncompromising love for her family and friends will be remembered and missed by everyone who knew and loved her.
A Visitation will be held at HALES CORNERS LUTHERAN CHURCH (12300 W. Janesville Ave.) in Hales Corners, Wisconsin on Sunday, September 21, 2025 beginning at 2:00 PM and a Funeral Service at 4:00 PM. Entombment to follow at Wisconsin Memorial Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Helen’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society.
