Kathleen “Kathy” Lois (Kelm) Groth
Kathleen passed away peacefully with her daughters and sister by friendship at her side on Friday, September 12, 2025, at Zilber Family Hospice in Wauwatosa, at the age of 79. She was born on April 16, 1946, and grew up on the south side of Milwaukee. In 1964, Kathy met the love of her life, David, at Muskego Beach Hall. They married in 1967 and shared over 54 wonderful years together. Kathy and Dave retired to the condominiums built on the Muskego Beach property — poetically ending their journey where it all began.
Above all else, Kathy’s greatest joy in life was her family. She was a deeply devoted mother to her two daughters, Wendy (Thomas) Dahl and Kelly Groth. Her role as a grandmother brought her even more joy. She cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren, Anna and Carter Dahl.
Kathy followed in her mother’s footsteps, becoming a registered nurse. Nursing was more than just a profession; it was her life. Over her 40-year career as an emergency room nurse, she helped so many people and loved helping others. She was a caregiver at heart and was always there to help family and friends as well.
Her heart for service extended well beyond her career. Kathy generously volunteered her time at Martin Luther High School, Hales Corners Lutheran Church, The Attic, and 3-in-1 Thrift. She had many friends through volunteering, and she always loved to serve.
A long and faithful member of Hales Corners Lutheran Church; Kathy found peace and strength in her faith. She loved her church community and remained actively involved in its ministry.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Eugene and Helena Kelm, and her siblings, Judith (Louis) Ferrise and Tom Kelm, and her beloved husband, David. Kathy is survived by her daughters and grandchildren; and many other cherished relatives and friends.
A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, September 26, 2025, at Hales Corners Lutheran Church (12300 W. Janesville Rd.) from 10:00 AM until the time of service at NOON.
May the Family find Comfort. It was a pleasure knowing you Kathy

I remember when baling hay was happening on grandpa’s farm. Dave and Kathy were helping (mostly hanging out on the wagon). I clearly remember (I was probably 10) asking if they were going to get married. They were all lovey lol. I was enthralled with the fact that they might be married. One of them answered something to effect of, “we don’t know” or “we‘ll see.” They made such a big impression on my young life. The first of my cousins to get married! I miss them both.
So sorry to hear the news. In our thoughts and prayers.
Many fond memories of Kathy and David from Martin Luther. HS. Our thoughts and prayers are with you Wendy and Kelly and family. Mom is at Peace now and no more suffering🙏💕🙏💕
Our deepest sympathy to you Kelly and Wendy! We so enjoyed having Kathy and Candy come to our bears/packers games for the last several years even when we flew back from Arizona. Kathy was missed very much this year but we know she was there in spirit to bring a packer win. I know she will keep singing “the bears still suck” when the packers play the bears!😃 keep the memories of your mom close to your heart!

Our deepest sympathy to Wendy and Kelly on the loss of your beautiful Mom. We have known Kathy for over 50 years as a neighbor and a lifelong friend. She will be missed. Heaven has gained an angel.
They say that no one is perfect. I disagree. Kathy Groth was in my opinion, one who was perfect in my eyes. She valued what was important in life – God, her family and anyone that came into contact with her ALWAYS. I have known Kathy for 45 years and had the pleasure of working side by side with her as ER nurses at SLMC. She was dedicated to her nursing career and always gave over 100 percent to those she cared for and worked with. She excelled as a RN and in addition ran Advanced Cardiac Life Support classes for many years. She also volunteered at other places. She was approachable and many of us depended on her expertise to guide us. Over the last few years, I spent more time with her and other ER nurses. She never changed a bit and I know that anyone whom she met would immediately love her for her caring and supportive nature nature. I am saddened by her passing and will miss her greatly. She is in heaven with her husband, David. Her heavenly ways have earned her this honor. I will miss our get togethers , your phone calls, your generosity and friendship. RIP my beautiful friend.
Psalm 34:18. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted. May God wrap His arms around you, Wendy and Kelly and give you comfort during this time.
Thinking of you, Groth family, during this time. Praying for peace and comfort as you remember and celebrate Kathy’s life together.
Sending the family my deepest sympathy. I have fond memories of your family from Martin Luther High school. May our gracious God wrap His loving arms around you and give you peace as you grieve your loss.
Wendy and Kelly, I am so sorry for your loss.. I’ve known you all for over 50 years. Your mom’s mission of service to others both in nursing and volunteering is complete. I’m sure she is serving God in heaven.
