Gary Howard Anderson

Passed away on Wednesday, September 9th, 2026, at age 83.

Beloved husband of Jane Anne Anderson (nee Mallman) for 51 years! Loving father of Craig Matthew (Leah) Anderson, Anthony William (Lisa) Anderson, Robert James (Kate McIntyre) Anderson, Lisa Marie (David Stephensen Jr.) Anderson, Cynthia Anderson Renolds, Danial Anderson, & Sharon Anderson Brienling. Cherished grandfather of Angelo Stephenson, Ariana Anderson, Lily Anderson, Olivia Anderson, Kashton Anderson, Calvin Stephenson, Luna Stephenson, Jessica Reynolds, Kaitlin, Reynolds, Cheyenne Reynolds, Jessie Anderson, Josh Breinling, Adam Breinling, and Brittany Breinling. Also survived by other loving relatives and friends.

Preceded in death by his parents, Robert Anderson and Evelyn Karweik, and his in-laws, Anthony and Sylvia Mallman.

Gary was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and he graduated from Boys Technical High School.

Gary Anderson was a talented craftsman. He worked for over 40 years in heavy manufacturing as a Master Welder retiring from Vilter Manufacturing. He also worked as a Master Leather Smith, hand-crafting exceptional leather belts, holsters, and other police and military tactical gear. He especially enjoyed this work as he shared it with his best friend, Gary Grundy.

He was also a self-taught and accomplished home renovator, rebuilding the family home on Hamilton Street in Milwaukee down to the studs and adding large front and rear decks, then later remodeling the family home in New Berlin and expanding its decks and patio.

Above all, he was a hard worker who passed on his work ethic and skill with his hands to his children.

Gary loved building as a hobby. He built plastic, metal, and wood models, primarily cars, trains and planes. Then, later in life he became a massive Lego fan, building cars, trains, and planes, boats, castles, and much more. He built wooden doll houses for his granddaughters, fixed campers and boats, and so much more. He especially enjoyed working on Lego with his grandkids whenever possible.

Gary enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and traveling with his family and friends, taking many trips around Wisconsin to Devil’s Lake State Park, Governor Dodge State Park, Waupaca, and many other destinations, as well as trips west to visit his sons in Colorado and Wyoming. He was a dog lover, having had a dog almost his entire life, including Charlie who misses him. He enjoyed watching (and complaining about) the Brewers and the Packers and attended many Brewers games with his family. He loved his old TV shows like M*A*S*H and The Rifleman. He loved Elvis and ZZ Top. He really loved a breakfast, lunch, or dinner with Jane at whichever diner was their favorite at the time, and ribs from any place that had good ones.

He loved his grandchildren. Above all, he was a loving husband and father, and he will be missed by all those he left behind.

A memorial visitation will take place on Friday, October 9^th, 2026, from 1:30 pm – 2 pm at SOUTHBROOK CHURCH (11010 W St Martins Rd, Franklin, WI 53132) with a memorial service to follow at 2 pm.

While flowers are a beautiful gesture, those wishing to honor Gary may instead choose to make a contribution toward the funeral expenses. Please do not feel any obligation, as your thoughts and support are more than enough.
