Dale
Snider

Dale Reynolds Snider, 87, passed away peacefully on November 17, 2025, in his home at Eastcastle Place in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He was preceded in death by his wife Georgia Weaver Snider in 2006 and Carol Osborne in 2013.

Born to Melville and Sharma Snider in Blanchester, Ohio, Dale grew up on the family farm, where he spent countless hours exploring the woods and creek, happily immersed in the natural world he loved.  Dale is survived by his brother, Dr. Don Snider, his two children, Rebecca Thompson and Eric Snider, and his two grandsons, Zachary and Maddox Thompson, all of whom brought him great joy.

After graduating from The Ohio State University, Dr. Snider served in the U.S. Navy teaching nuclear operations to submariners. Thereafter he devoted the remainder of his life to learning and teaching others. He served as a professor of physics and astronomy at UW–Milwaukee, where he taught and researched projects in chaos theory, solid state physics and surface science until his retirement in 1997. Always enthusiastic to share knowledge, Dale continued to teach after retirement through the North Shore School for Seniors, offering classes on subjects close to his heart, most notably birdwatching. For many years, it was a “rare sighting” to find him without binoculars around his neck.

His curiosity and passion extended far and wide, from birdwatching, ecology, Shakespeare and classical music to prairie restoration, liberal politics, the Green Bay Packers, and, most certainly, dessert.

Dale is already missed by his family and his friends and students whose lives he touched.

Please join us as we gather to celebrate the life of Dale R Snider. Though our hearts may be heavy, let us come together to remember his vibrant spirit, cherish the memories we shared, and find some peace in the love and support of one another. We look forward to sharing a funny story, a favorite memory and a few light snacks as we raise a glass in his honor.  As he would have preferred, casual attire with pocket pencils optional.

Sending my deepest condolences. Dale was always such an enlightening conversationalist with me at a very young age when he would visit Blanchester. I always enjoyed you family visits and telling him about the cows. My Grandpa, Roger Rich, always thought so highly of him.
