Viola Marie Georgson

(nee Hofer) was born into a Lutheran family on July 14, 1930, and was received into the arms of Jesus Christ her Savior on Thursday, June 6, 2024, just shy of her 94th birthday. She was the third youngest of ten children. She was baptized as an infant and confirmed in the Lutheran church. After elementary and high school, she attended Central State College in Stevens Point, Wisconsin.

She married Allan Georgson on June 1, 1951. He was taken to heaven on January 5, 2014, after being a loving Christian husband for more than 60 years. Viola loved her siblings and was devoted to the family that God blessed her with.

Viola taught school at the elementary level and also did secretarial work in several offices.

Viola, Allan, and their family enjoyed traveling, gardening, camping, nature, birding, and family gatherings.

Viola enjoyed many interests and hobbies and loved playing games with her family and fellow residents at Spero Gardens. She loved a good joke and belly laughs. Viola was know as one of the sweetest souls by numerous friends.

Viola was active in various ways in the churches she belonged to and was thankful for the opportunities to serve her Lord and others. She also volunteered with the WLCFS Ladies Guild, the WELS Bargain Center, and WELS Lutherans for Life. She also attended many LWMS Conventions. Through these and other activities, Viola found good friends and cherished relationships. She was a fierce prayer warrior – especially in her later years for her family, her church, and multiple ministries that she and Allan loved and supported.

Viola’s memory will be cherished by her family until they see her in heaven through faith in Jesus Christ. She is survived by LaVern (Lynn) Georgson of Fort Atkinson; Trudie (Evan) Roloff of Wonewoc; Steve (Janice) Georgson of Watertown; Peter (Rose) Georgson of Mequon; and Milt (Ellen) Georgson of Sparta. She is further survived by 14 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, other relatives, and friends.

Viola was preceded in death by Allan, her parents, as well as brothers, sisters, and many other loved ones.

A memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 13, 2024, at Peace Lutheran Church (1001 Center St. Hartford, WI 53027) with the Rev. Robert Pasbrig presiding. Visitation will be at the church before the service, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. A private family interment will be at Highland Memorial Park.

I know what is meant by belly laughs. She and I had our share. I will miss her laughter and the many road trips we took. I will miss you, Vi. I’m glad you’re in heaven with Jesus and Allan.

I first got to know Vi when her young children were students at St. Paul’s Lutheran School in Cudahy, where I was then a teacher there.
Many years later we reconnected when she and Allen moved to Luther Haven, where my Mother Lillian Koch was a resident for 17 years.
We then kept in touch in person, and later at Christmas and birthdays, by card and phone. So, the last time we chatted was when Vi called me on my birthday, on February 27.
She indicated that that would most likely be her last call. Now the Lord has called her to her final Home. “For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.” Phil. 1:21.
