Ruth V. Pindel (nee Hintz)

Ruth V. Pindel passed into heaven and into the arms of Jesus on June 4th, 2026! Ruth was a resident of The Lutheran Home, Elaine’s Hope Memory Care in Wauwatosa, and passed away peacefully there. She was also under care by St. Croix Hospice Care.

Ruth was the wife of Roman G. Pindel for 73 years. He passed away on March 3rd, 2024. Ruth was the mother of five children: Christine (Michael) Paynter, North Carolina; Jeffrey (Donna) Pindel, Illinois;

David (Luann) Pindel, South Milwaukee; Kathryn Gates (Craig Gaido), Brookfield; Jacqueline (Ronald) Schaefer, Illinois; and sister-in-law, Mary Anne Bolan, Wautoma, WI. She is survived by 14 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren, as well as nieces and nephews, many friends, and former neighbors.

Ruth graduated from Notre Dame High School in Milwaukee in June 1948. She genuinely loved the Lord, and that was evident to everyone who knew her. She worked at administrative jobs, gave birth to her five children, was active in many of the kids’ school activities, and was a Girl Scout Leader and a Den mother for Cub Scouts. Ruth was highly active in St. Veronica’s Catholic parish for over fifty years, where she sang in the church and Resurrection choirs, assisted the priest on Sunday mornings by distributing the Holy Eucharist, changed seasonal church decorations, and worked in the food bank and at outdoor festivals. Ruth was a member of St. Roman’s Catholic parish for 20 years, during which her health was declining. Ruth faithfully served the Milwaukee community for 15 years as a volunteer at St. Luke’s Hospital as a greeter and personal escort for disabled hospital patients.

Ruth and her husband lived a fulfilling retired life and traveled to more than 40 states, including Alaska and Hawaii, where they visited many Presidential libraries. They also traveled to England, Scotland, and cruised through the Panama Canal and around the Caribbean Sea. Ruth took her lifetime dream vacation to Italy, where she visited the Vatican and was blessed by the Pope.

We express our sincere gratitude and thanks to all Lutheran Home support staff! We are especially grateful to the care workers in Elaine’s Hope Memory Care Ravenswood Unit for their professionalism, unlimited patience, and gentle care of our mother for 4 years. Thank you for every phone call to let us know how she was doing! She loved living under your care and appreciated that she was always loved and treated with dignity, respect, and true compassion. Ruth was under St. Croix Hospice care for almost 2 years, and we deeply appreciate their compassionate care for her and the many explanations of her disease and physical condition we received from them while caring for our mother.

Special thanks to family members and friends who visited and prayed for Ruth.

Ruth’s Celebration of Life service will be on Tuesday, June 16th, 2026, at the Lutheran Home Chapel, 7500 W. North Avenue, Wauwatosa, Wisconsin 53213. Visitation at 10:00 am and the Celebration Service at 11:00 am with Chaplain Derek Wolter officiating. After the service, we will meet at the Halls of History Building in Forest Home Cemetery, 2405 Forest Home Avenue, Milwaukee, WI, where Chaplain Wolter will share final remarks.
