Rose Mary Pook

Rose Mary Pook, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 4, 2026, at the age of 94.

Born on November 22, 1931, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Rose Mary lived through nearly a century of remarkable change while remaining grounded in the values that mattered most to her: family, kindness, faith, hard work, and quiet perseverance. She approached life with resilience and grace, finding joy in simple pleasures and in the people she loved. Rose Mary was proud of her Croatian heritage and had a lifelong love of folk dancing.

She was the devoted mother of Jane Pook (Neil Karlin), Christopher Pook, and Brian Pook (Lori Zick), who will remember her for her steadfast love and unwavering presence. She was also a proud grandmother of Max Karlin and Kayleigh, Savannah, and Avalon Pook, each of whom brought her immense happiness and joy.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Pook, her parents, Stephen Dejanovich and Helen Dejanovich (née Kolar), her older brothers and sisters: Nick Hecimovich, Clara Beck (née Hecimovich), Peter Dejanovich, Louis Dejanovich, Mary Sartich (née Dejanovich), and Matthew Dejanovich. She is survived by her children, grandchildren, her younger sister, Catherine DuFresne, many nieces, nephews, and other extended family, along with dear friends, all of whom will miss her deeply.

Her family is grateful to the medical professionals who cared for her with compassion during her final days.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Wounded Warriors Project or the School Sisters of Saint Francis or those wishing to honor Rose Mary’s memory are encouraged to perform a simple act of kindness in her name.

Rose Mary will be remembered for the love she gave her family, the example she set, and the countless lives she touched through her kindness and quiet strength. May her memory be an eternal blessing and a comfort to all who loved her.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Rose Mary’s life at a visitation on Saturday, August 15, 2026 from 11am to 12:30pm at Heritage Funeral Home, 16880 W National Ave, New Berlin, followed by lunch from 1:15 to 3pm at Meyer’s Restaurant at 4260 South 76 Street, Greenfield.
