Rosalie Semrau

Rosalie Semrau, 81, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, passed away in her sleep on April 1, 2026. Rosalie was born on March 4, 1945 in Milwaukee, WI, to Chester and Gertrude Semrau.
She is survived by her brother, David Semrau and sister, Caroline Ostrowski.  She was preceded in death by her brother, Daniel Semrau; father, Chester, and mother, Gertrude.
After graduating from Pulaski, High School.  Rose worked as an Executive Secretary in the Milwaukee Municipal Reference Library. She was responsible for preparing the annual report which she typed with no errors in the days before word processors.
She loved her cat, Bandit and her black Ford convertible.
She was a lot of fun to be with and a great accordion player. Rose was good at putting together ensembles that looked like she came out of a fashion magazine. She also wore some great hair styles.
She was an artist, a writer, and a poet. She was known for her kindness and was her mother’s caregiver providing comfort in her mother’s final years.
The family is thankful for the wonderful care she received from the staff at Abundant Life Manor in her last years and the comfort provided by St. Croix hospice.
Visitation will take place on Friday, April 10, 2026 from 10 am – 11 am at ST. GREGORY THE GREAT PARISH (3160 S 63rd St, Milwaukee) with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11 am. Burial will take place at HOLY CROSS CEMETERY (7301 W Nash St, Milwaukee) at 2:30 pm.

    Interesting choice of venue for such an occasion. Did you have any challenges with lighting indoors?

    Rosalie was my friend Caroline’s older sister. To this day I remember her as being (gorgeous, of course), very cheerful and positive .. and always nice to me.
    Just wanted the family to know I still remember.
