If you say “Jets” or say “best in jets” only one name comes up for this area, Roger Olsen. I knew and flew with Roger, I saw him at his best and that’s what I care to remember him by, his best. Roger was to RC Flying what A.J. was to auto racing, a leader ahead of his time. If you knew Roger, you’d never forget him. So… so long Rog… thanks for the many laughs and lessons learned when we lite the fire and pushed the throttle, TomCat

This is Roger’s niece, Susan Bentley. I’m sure he would be very unhappy if we didn’t offer some special thanks where deserved.

After his heart attack, my late sister, Sharon, and her late husband, John Hess, took great care of him and helped in so many ways. Our entire family would like to give a special Thank You and shout out to all the Doctors, Nurses, and Staff of Froedtert Hospital’s Advanced Care Unit, as well as the Hospice Care he received there. Jo Walczak, Director of Community Relations with Caring Alternatives Assisted Living for Seniors is an Angel here on Earth, and became fast friends with Roger as soon as she met him. We couldn’t have found anyone better than Pam Foti of Vesta Senior Network; she’s so smart, compassionate, and an all-around great person. We appreciate you all and can’t thank you enough!!!

Thanks to my awesome family who made this last summer of fun possible for Roger. We took him “up North” where he caught 2 fish, paddled around the lake on a boat with me, visited a drive-thru safari, then swam in our pool – all things he’d never done before! We had a blast riding in my ’68 Dodge Charger, too! Thanks for helping make this all happen, Everyone!

To Rich and Carol LaBodda for being the absolute best neighbors anyone could ever hope to have!

One last nod is going to my parents, Judy and Ralph. They are outstanding people and a blessing to so many! They did everything they could for Roger, and then some. My dad wins “Brother-in-Law of the Year” award for going over and above!! When it became too challenging for them to take the best care of him, they carefully and lovingly asked Jo Walczak and her staff to take over. Unfortunately, his fall and hip fracture never allowed that to happen. Sending you off with much love, Roger! .

Roger was the most enthusiastic RC pilot I ever knew! He was always there to help others in the hobby and taught many new RC pilots how to fly. He will be missed by everyone who knew him. Bet he’s flying right now!
