Richard H. Popp
POPP, RICHARD H., of Yorkville, IL passed away on January 16th, 2026. He was born December 4, 1934 in Wausau, WI, the son of Herbert and Vandalia (Kobriger) Popp. Richard graduated from Black River Falls, WI high school in 1952; from University of Wisconsin-Stout with BS in 1959, a MS in 1965 and with an honorary AAS degree in engineering from Gateway Technical Institute in 1977. He taught in South Milwaukee Vocational School, Milwaukee Area Technical College and in several printing industries as a training manager or as a corporate training director until his retirement.
He is survived by his wife Beverly (nee Munson); his children: Julie Deterding, Mark (Jayne) Popp, Kurt (Mary) Popp, Brian (Sharon) Popp, Mary Popp; Anne (Gene) Lewis, Sara (Ed) Robley; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, along with Bev’s children: Steve (Pam) Rissman, Jeanne (Doug) Ecker, Sue (Ron) Gates, six grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. Also survived by: Sisters-in-laws, Barb (Jim) Kertscher, Bonnie (Tom) Bridenhagen, brothers-in-laws, Larry (Adele) Ritzman, Rick (Chris) Ritzman and Richard (Velma) Parkhurst. Richard is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, his first wife Kathleen (Ritzman) the mother of his children, son-in-law Dale Deterding and his brother Bill and sister-in-law Clarice (Ritzman) Popp, and his brother-in-law David (Carol) Parkhurst.
A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, January 30th, from 10am-12pm at St. Louis Catholic Church (13207 County Rd G, Caledonia, WI 53108). A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 12pm. Inurnment will follow at St. Louis Catholic Church Cemetery.

Our deepest condolences! May God be with his family, and granted them the comfort, strength, and peace that surpasses understanding in this time of loss. He was a very smart man, knowledgeable, funny, and kind. Our family was blessed to know him, and Bev. We will miss your kindness, your laughters, your generosity, and we will miss talking about WWII, trains, life and history lessons with you, sir! Rest in God’s loving arms! You will be deeply missed. And you are loved!
