Raul P. Escamilla Jr.
Passed away surrounded by his family on September 4th, 2026, at the age of 74. Devoted husband of Susie (nee Petersen) for 56 years; the loving dad of Tony (Karen) and Gina; and the proud Grandpa of John “J”, Leo, Cross, Marina, Gianna, and Evalina. He is further survived by his siblings Linda, Sandra, Roland (Lynnda), and David (Anita) Belasco, along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Raul Sr. and Olivia (née Fuentes), as well as his siblings Olivia and Eddie.
Raul’s greatest joy in life was being with his children, grandchildren, and friends. Family was always at the heart of his life, and he cherished the time they spent together, whether gathered around the dinner table or enjoying music at a church festival. He was known for calling family members, often early in the morning, to wish them a happy birthday or a happy New Year. Those calls were one of the many ways Raul showed his love and made sure his family knew they were always in his thoughts.
Raul and Susie met as teenagers at a YWCA dance, where Raul asked Susie to dance. From that first dance grew a lifetime of memories, love, family, and friendship.
Raul loved being surrounded by people and enjoyed sharing good times with his family and friends. He loved popcorn and Southern Comfort, simple pleasures that were very much a part of who he was.
A devoted Wisconsin sports fan, Raul proudly cheered for the Packers, Brewers, and Bucks. In his younger years, he loved playing softball and even ran his own teams. His love of basketball and one of his proudest accomplishments began when he started coaching his son Tony’s fourth grade basketball team at Doerfler Elementary and he continued coaching for many, many years even after Tony left.
In his quieter moments, Raul enjoyed doing fill-in puzzles, playing solitaire on the computer, and listening to his favorite music- Tejano, James Brown, and Motown.
Raul will be remembered most for his love of family and friends, his generous spirit, and the many ways he brought people together. His calls, stories, bad jokes, laughter, music, and the memories he created with those he loved will remain in their hearts forever.

He was a wonderful and caring person. We will miss hearing from him. He always made us laugh!! I’ll never forgot the time he drive over to our house during Covid to show us his homemade mask that he had made out of a pair of underwear!! We love you Raul!! Raul had a knack for making ppl comfortable by using humor. Thank you for many good memories, especially at work. Loved when u n Marina would show up 4 Hawkins fball games, cracking us up.Love u 2 Gma Susie! Our family’ s condolences. We are proud to call Raul and Sue longtime close friends for maybe 50 years. I’ll remember meeting up with Raul at weddings, quinceñiras,festivals ( with his familiar bag of popcorn) and the old La Charrita bar. Rest in peace my friend and I’m sure you’ll be going to an Emilio concert up in Heaven.
Our deepest condolences to Sue, Tony, Gina, and family. 🙏. We (Moises and Mary Ellen) were blessed to have known Raul for a very long time. From the La charrita softball days and to the many get together parties. I’ll always remember his ,” right here ” comment when someone would ask a question,lol.
