In Loving Memory of
Orlando Sta. Maria Mamawan
Orlando Sta. Maria Mamawan, lovingly known to family and friends as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on February 26, 2026, at the age of 75.
Born on February 22, 1951, in the Philippines, Orlando lived a life marked by hard work, perseverance, and a deep love for his family. From a young age, he embraced responsibility and carried that sense of dedication with him throughout his life. His journey took him far from his birthplace, working many years in the Middle East before eventually finding a home and career in the United States—a path that reflected both his courage and his unwavering commitment to providing for those he loved.
Orlando spent decades in the service and hotel industry, a field that perfectly matched his warm personality and love of people. Food was more than a profession for him—it was a joy. He delighted in sharing meals, stories, and laughter, making everyone around him feel welcome. His love for music was equally infectious; whether singing karaoke, dancing, or simply enjoying a good song, Orlando knew how to fill a room with life.
Above all else, Orlando cherished his family. He was the loving husband of Melita (née De Leon), with whom he shared a lifetime of partnership, devotion, and love. He was a proud and devoted Tatay to his daughters, Janet (Abe) and Joylet (Vincent), who were the center of his world. As a Lolo, his heart overflowed with pride and affection for his grandchildren, Amelia and Nathaniel, who brought him immense joy. He was also a beloved son to the late Felix and Maura, whose values he carried forward in his own life.
Orlando will be remembered for his kindness, his gentle humor, his strong work ethic, and his ability to bring people together. He loved to travel, to experience new places and cultures, and to create memories that would last long after the journey ended. His presence was comforting, his smile reassuring, and his love constant.
A visitation will be held on Friday, March 6, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Homes – Oak Creek (9200 S. 27th St.), with a short prayer service at 7:00 p.m. A funeral service will take place on Saturday, March 7, at 10:00 a.m. at Heritage Funeral Homes (9200 S. 27th St. Oak Creek), with a brief visitation beforehand, beginning at 9:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery in Cudahy.
Though he is no longer with us in body, Orlando’s love, laughter, and legacy live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
