Nancy Joy Raabe (Schattschneider)
Nancy, age 78, was called home to her Savior on October 16, 2026, passing peacefully at home with her beloved husband and best friend, Daryl, by her side.
Born on June 13, 1948, raised in the Milwaukee area, Nancy lived a life defined by faith, family, and service. She was baptized into God’s family at St. Jacobi Lutheran Church and later confirmed her faith there, beginning a lifelong walk with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
On July 19, 1969, Nancy married the love of her life, Daryl Raabe. Their story began as a classic high school romance between a cheerleader and a football quarterback which grew into a beautiful marriage that spanned 57 years. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and love.
Three things guided Nancy throughout her life: her love for her Lord and Savior, Jesus; her unwavering devotion to her family; and her passion for serving the Lord through Christian ministry.
Nancy dedicated more than 20 years of her life serving at St. Jacobi Lutheran Church, Time of Grace Ministry, and Wisconsin Lutheran High School where her behind the scenes faithful service touched countless lives. She gave generously of her time, talents, and heart, always seeking ways to serve others and glorify God.
Nancy is the loving mother of Kip (Kelly) Raabe, Kyle (Tammy) Raabe, Andi (Jeff) Stelpflug, Clint Raabe, and Amanda Raabe. She is the deeply loved grandma of Maddison (Jerak), Carter (Megan), Jaxon, Trey, Connor, Mason, Brady, Brooke, Brandon, and Dresden. She is also survived by countless relatives and dear friends across the Raabe and Schneider families and beyond.
Nancy’s middle name is Joy, and no name could have fit her better. Joy was what she brought to everyone who met her, every friendship she cultivated, and every life she touched. Through her warm smile, sense of humor, encouraging words, servant’s heart, and steadfast faith, Nancy reflected the love of Christ to all who knew her.
While we grieve her absence, we also celebrate the certainty of God’s promise of eternal life for Nancy and for us. We praise God that Nancy has been reunited in heaven with many beloved family members and friends who went before her, and she now rejoices forever in the presence of her Savior. Today, her family finds peace knowing that the joy she brought to others has been returned to her as she rests in the eternal arms of her Savior.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Monday, November 2, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at ST. JACOBI EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH, 8605 W. Forest Home Ave, with a service to follow at 4:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, we invite you to honor Nancy’s legacy of faith and service through a memorial gift to Wisconsin Lutheran High School or Time of Grace Ministry, organizations she passionately supported and cherished.
We also invite you to share stories, photos, and memories on the Nancy Raabe Moments & Memories Board as we remember and celebrate her life.
I am so sorry to hear of this. She was a lovely lady.
