Michael J. Chubbuck
June 28, 1972 – January 6, 2026
Michael Chubbuck passed away peacefully on January 6, 2026, surrounded by his family.
Mike is survived by his beloved wife, Margaret Umek; his cherished stepdaughter, Grace Umek; his proud parents, Bill and Gail Chubbuck; his loving brother, Steve Chubbuck (Tina); and his father-in-law, Jerry Umek. Mike was preceded in death by his mother-in-law Slavka Umek. Mike is further survived by his many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Mike loved music and started playing guitar at a young age. He became involved in the Milwaukee music scene in the ‘90s and was the lead singer and guitarist for the bands Silent Scream and Loomis. Loomis went on to release the studio album “You’re No Tiger, Meow, Meow, Meow” in 1996 after being signed by Grass Records. They toured regionally in support of the album. Loomis played their final show at a reunion show in 2006 alongside fellow Milwaukee bands Compound Red and Alligator Gun.
Mike dedicated 24 years of his professional life to U.S. Bank in various positions.
Mike was an avid dog lover. He and Maggie together raised four wonderful German Shorthaired Pointers over the years. Mike found pure joy in these energetic, loyal companions, especially his Pointer named Ernie. Weekend mornings were sacred — he could often be found at the dog park with Ernie and their friends, watching the dogs run and play, sharing stories, and soaking in the simple happiness that came from those moments.
A Memorial Visitation will be held on Friday, January 23, 2026 from 3:00 p.m.- 6:00 p.m. with a celebration of Mike’s life at 5:00 p.m. followed by time to visit and share memories. Visitation will be held at HERITAGE FUNERAL HOME, 4800 S. 84th St. Greenfield, WI 53228.
Mike lived a life filled with love for his family, loyalty to his work, love for his music, and endless enthusiasm for his dogs. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.
