Maureen Adele Lapicola went home to the Lord on Friday, April 19, 2002 at her home in East Troy, WI. She had fought a valiant battle for two years against ovarian cancer. Her bravery against all odds was an unforgettable example of courage.

She was born in Oak Park, IL to Maia Hannah Lundquist and Charles Anthony Lapicola. She moved, with her family, to an East Troy farm thirty-five years ago. She received her BA in Art and her MS in Social Work from the UW-Whitewater. Maureen was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, East Troy.

She was employed by Walworth County for twenty-two years. Maureen had been Senior Center Supervisor, founded Club Amigo for Senior Latinos, was head of R.S.V.P. and was currently a professional counselor and independent Clinical Social Worker for the county.

In private life she was a noted breeder of champion Welsh ponies under the Asgard prefix, was a Director of the Welsh Pony & Cob Society of America and a popular Welsh judge throughout North America. She had also judged Welsh in Wales, United Kingdom. She enjoyed painting and all forms of artistic expression. Her beautiful smile will be remembered by all who met her.

Survivors include her Mother, two Sisters Valerie and Deborah, both of East Troy, and a Brother Charles Sharon of Rapid River, MI, and cousins in Chicago, IL and Phelps, WI. She was preceeded in death by her Father.

Visitation will be 4-8 pm on Tuesday, April 23, 2002 at Heritage Funeral Home in East Troy. Funeral Services will be Wednesday, April 24, 2002 at 11:00 am at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church 1936 Emery Street, East Troy, WI. Visitation will be at church from 10:00 am to the time of service. Pastor Phil Vangen will be officiating. Interment at Phelps Cemetery, Phelps, WI.
