Mary Ellen Wanta

January 9, 1957 – July 22, 2026

Mary Ellen Wanta (nee Hurtado) 69 yrs old, passed away after a brief illness on July 22, 2026.  On June 23, 2001, she married her best friend and love of her life. She enjoyed going to festivals, gardening, going to movies, and dancing.

She will be sadly missed by her husband, Thomas of New Berlin; special aunt, Vickie Herrera of Waukesha; sisters, Diane (Bruce) Unferth of Waukesha, Venus (Doug) Cote` of Germantown and brother, Jim Hurtado of Waukesha; mother-in law, Rita Wanta of Muskego; sisters-in-law, Ellen Wanta of West Allis and Carole (Robert Sr.) Duve of Muskego.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Juan (John) and Rosa Hurtado; father-in-law, Ambrose Wanta and brother-in-law, Jeffrey Wanta. She is further survived by aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. An avid animal lover, she found great joy in her dog, Charlie and was preceded by her dogs, Sammy and Rocky.  Her kindness, love, and presence touched many lives. Mary will live forever in our hearts.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 14, 2026, from 5:00pm until the 7:00pm memorial service at HERITAGE FUNERAL HOME (16880 W.
