Martin was a good friend, classmate, and gifted athlete at Tonasket High School. He and I won First place in the Okanogan County High School Minor Sports Tournament. My condolences to his family.

I’m sorry for your loss. My dad and Marty had a lot in common, including their workplace. I remember riding in the back seat of Marty’s royal blue Chevy Chevette when I carpooled with him and my dad to CUW. I didn’t appreciate talk radio back then, but now I get why they always listened to it!

Mr. Duchow was a favorite professor during my four years at Concordia High School and two years Concordia College Milwaukee. Enjoyed playing basketball against the coaches. My favorite memory happened during high school. Thee of us students decided to skip out of class early to attend our track meet away at Wayland Academy. we had no transportation so we hitch hiked our way. Finally our fourth ride picked us up about 10 miles from the track field. Yes it was Mr. Duchow and 2 of us guys skipped his class watch the track meet. It was a quiet 10 miles but during the meet Mr. Duchow came over to me said I like your enthusiasm, you guys traveled with safety in numbers and displayed school spirit. Don’t do it again. and then arranged to find us a ride back to campus.

My sincere heart-felt hug for Carolyn and family. with the knowledge that he is in good hands with our Savior. God’s peace be with you.

The short visits I had with Marty during hunting season or family reunions were never enough time to really get to know him deeply, but he was always an inspiration to me as he took his health challenges in stride. That means more to me now that I have my own challenges. Wishing peaceful blessings to al who will be missing this fine man. I wish I cold be there to share in the celebration of his life and legacy.
