Marianne F.  Pogorzelski

It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of Marianne (nee Geiger) Pogorzelski, who was called home to heaven on December 20, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on November 27, 1939, in Marshfield, WI, to Henry and June Geiger, Marianne was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Charles Geiger, and her beloved son Jimi Pogorzelski.
Marianne was a voracious reader, civic minded, a world class baker and her coleslaw was always in great demand at family events. Her home reflected her meticulous nature, always spotless and welcoming, and she took equal care with her appearance. Up until her final weeks in skilled nursing care, Marianne greeted each day with her signature style: hair and makeup done, jewelry chosen, and a fashionable outfit ready for the many visitors who came to see her. She embraced her “matchie matchie” fashion mantra with joy and humor.
A dedicated volunteer, Marianne served for many years as an usher at the Milwaukee Repertory Theater and was a discerning connoisseur of the Wisconsin Friday Fish Fry. Above all, she was a loving mother and grandmother, survived by her sons, Steve (Brenda) Pogorzelski, Chris (Michelle) Pogorzelski, and daughters, Laura Pogorzelski and Susan Odegaard. Devoted grandmother to Zack (Lindsay), Ethan, Stacy, Leah, Jenna (Jake), Kidd (Hannah), Phoebe, Sari, and Andrew with her first great-grandchild expected next June.
Marianne is further survived by her siblings: Annette Thompson, Colleen (Roger) Erickson, Gordon (Krista Kile), Jeff (Linda) Geiger, and Tim (Terry) Geiger, as well as her sister-in-law and dear friend, Cheri Geiger. Her siblings and their spouses were a constant source of comfort, their visits, stories, and gifts of food always lifting her spirits. Mike and Marge Pogorzelski (“sister from another mother”) embraced Marianne as family, and she loved them deeply. Marianne also leaves behind her devoted friend of over 70 years, Jeanne Schuldenberg, along with brother-in-law, Anthony Pogorzelski, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Hales Corners Care Center for their compassionate care during Marianne’s final days. Special thanks to the Aurora Hospice Team, especially Rachel, whom we consider an angel, and to Bernie from Comfort Keepers, who began as a caregiver and became a treasured friend.
In accordance with her wishes, Marianne will be cremated and interred at Forest Home Cemetery. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
