Of Caledonia. Mrs. Loretta Anna Nee Nass Smerchek, 84, passed away at St Lukes Hospital in Milwaukee, Sunday, December 2, 2001.
She was born in Bagley on October 17, 1917, to Henry C. and Gertrude C. Nee Bach Nass. On April 6, 1940, at St John’s Lutheran Church in Racine, she was united in marriage to Daniel Smerchek, who preceded her in death on July 10, 1991.
Loretta was proud to be a loving Mother and Homemaker. She was an active 4-H Leader in sewing for many years and enjoyed playing cards and having family gatherings.
Surviving are a son Dale Linda Smerchek of Beaver Dam; daughter Deanna Colin Sadler of the Town of Raymond; grandchildren Daniel and Shelly Smerchek, Dean and Sandy Smerchek, Rob and Donna Maron, Denise Smerchek, Kim Wright, Crystal Flint, Clayton and Soonjung Sadler, and Jason Sadler; 10 great-grandchildren: sister, Jeannette Earl Wiegert; brothers, Arnold RoseMary Nass and Charles Jean Nass; and sisters in law, Edith Nass, Bernice Stark, Florence Vacek, and Betty Smerchek. Further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son Darrrell, her brothers Gordon and Melvin; her sister in law Evelyn Knaus; and brothers in law Carl Vacek and Richard Smerchek.
Funeral Sevices will be held at North Cape Lutheran Church, 2644 Raynor Av. Hwy 45, on Friday, Dec 7, 2001 at 11 AM, with Rev. Dean Natterstad officiating. Burial will be in Bohemian National Cemetery in Caledonia. Visitation will be at the Funeral Home Thurday evening from 5 until 8 PM, and at the church on Friday from 10 AM until 11 AM. Memorials to North Cape Lutheran Church, or the charity of your choice appreciated.
