Kathleen
Stokhaug
Kathleen “Trine” Stokhaug age 83 died on June 28, at home in her bed with her loving husband, Dennis by her side.
Kathy was born in Oklahoma Burroughs, Pennsylvania on July 10, 1942, to Clarence and Ruth Baker, the youngest of three children. At a young age, Kathy moved with her family to start a new life in Milwaukee.
Kathy’s fondest memories of Milwaukee were of taking her nephews and niece to ball games and for ice cream, and taking friends and family on the street car and trolley downtown to visit her mother where she worked, at Woolworth’s.
As a teen, Kathy worked at the Milwaukee Christian Center. It was there that Dennis was lucky enough to meet her. He gave her a friendship ring on October 15, 1959 and they were inseparable from that moment on. Dennis got to marry her, the love of his life, on February 12, 1966. They went on to have four wonderful children; Brian, Scott, Kristen, and Heather.
Kathy started out as a cashier at Kohls, moving up the ladder over thirty four years, where she finished her career at their corporate office as a Facility’s Manager. She had many fond memories of her time there and made life long friends.
Kathy and Dennis (Den and Trine) loved to travel, to Hawaii, and to many yearly gatherings around the country with the USS Maddox Destroyer Association. Both Dennis and Kathy held many positions in the Maddox Association over many years.
Kathy loved being surrounded by family. Kids and grandkids always filled her house with love, laughter, fun, cuddles, games, and always a smile and homemade meal to greet you. The grandkids called her Nina, a special name that would be for her only, a grandma like no other. She cherished her time with each and every one of them.
Her home and yard were her sanctuary, where she enjoyed working in the yard. Spring and summers were filled with many trips to the various flower shops hunting for the right flowers she could use to fill her gardens and patio.
Kathy is survived by her husband, Dennis, her children Brian, Scott, Kristen (Mark) Nickel, and Heather (Jason) Hamilton, her grandchildren, Adam Schomisch, Barry (Katie) Schomisch, Sean Stokhaug, Grace Nickel, Nathan Stokhaug, Hannah Stokhaug, and her great granddaughters, Arya and Audrey. She is proceeded in death by two granddaughters, Audrey Schomisch and Emily Nickel.
A private family service will be held. In lieu of flowers, as a breast cancer survivor, Kathy’s favorite charity was the Breast Cancer Foundation, if you’d like to donate in her memory.
Trine, Mom, Nina, you will forever be remembered, loved and missed.
