Joseph Martin
Veriga

Joseph Martin Veriga, 65, of Muskego, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, December 12, 2022.

Joseph was born on May 9th, 1957 to Anna Barnes and Henry Veriga in Cudahy, WI.

Joseph graduated from Cudahy High School in 1976. Joseph was a decorated athlete who still holds records and is remembered as one of the fastest track athletes of all time at Cudahy High School.

Joseph Veriga and Debra Weymier met in the late 70’s and went on to have three children, Kenneth (1980), Joseph (1984), and Kimberly (1984). One of the biggest surprises of Joseph’s life was finding out he was having twins at the time of delivery.

Joseph was married several more times. Just keep on reading about the good stuff, lol.

Joseph spent his free time golfing, working out, watching sports, traveling to resorts to escape the cold, and taking care of his cats. He got his first cat, Pumpkin, when he saw that his children were afraid of the neighbor’s cat.  In his younger years Joseph enjoyed lifting weights and playing racquetball. In his later years Joseph became an avid golfer. He recently visited Augusta National, US Open, and the Ryder Cup. Joseph was known to be quick with a joke and to enjoy smoking cigars. He has many quotable moments that his family and friends will cherish. Joseph was a talkative and friendly man who made friends easily.

Joseph was a hard worker, working many years at Bayview Industries and Mckey Perforating. Joseph had recently retired and was looking forward to spending his hard-earned savings.

Joseph was preceded in death by father, Henry Veriga and mother, Anna Barnes.

Joseph is survived by beloved stepfather, Jack Barnes; sister Cathy, lovingly known as Tutu, and Margaret and brother Jeffrey.

Also survived by children: Kenneth (Emily), Joseph (Mae), and Kimberly (Justin) and grandchildren: Kaylie, Landen, Beau, Leon, Jack, and Sloane.

A memorial visitation will be held Sunday, December 18th, from 10-11:30am at Heritage Funeral Homes (16880 W. National Ave. New Berlin).  A celebration of Joseph’s life will follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Children’s Hospital, an organization Joseph used to volunteer at.

Words cannot express the sorrow of our fathers recent passing. He always took great care of his health and had many plans for his retirement. We will miss you forever.

Love,

Kenny, Joey, and Kimmy

First of all… My heart goes out to you all as I send deepest condolences!
I don’t remember much about him from our school years and never really got to know your dad well… But I thank you for sharing so honestly, and from that, we can appreciate the man he was and has been to you all! I do remember a soccer dad and his van… And what great people he raised! For that, he lives on through you all and I wish you the world of peace during this time of sorrow. I hope for all the good spirit of joyous laughter to carry on his memory and lift your spirits as you heal in the rough times ahead.

What a lovely written tribute to your father. Memories are always cherished…. a great big hug to all who knew Joe and cared deeply about him. He was a smile of a memory for me during our High School years together. I still remember trying to run with him down Lake Shore drive in Cudahy. He would say, “Don’t you just Love running!” NO!…. and I still don’t. He was truly a kind, gentle spirit who could run like the wind! Rest in Peace dear friend!
