James “Jim” R. Reit
Passed away on February 5th, 2026, at the age of 91. He is preceded in death by his wife Beverly (nee Wiener), parents Elmer and Margaret, as well as sister-in-law Georgia (Richard) Miller. Survived by 1 brother David (Karen) Reit as well as sisters-in-law Geraldine Kenaston and Lynette (Howard) Pipkorn. Further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Born January 1st, 1935. Jim served our country in the United States Naval Reserve for 12 years attaining the rank of RM2. Jim also known as “Bumba Jim” was a talented drummer and adopted an early interest in the craft. He had been playing since the year 1950. Jim retired from the Milwaukee Soo Line Railroad after 30+ years of service. He was also a volunteer at the Franklin Meal Site serving families in his community for over 12 years and was a lifelong devoted Lutheran. He will be dearly missed by all who came to know him.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 13th 2026, from 10-11:30am at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church (6881 S. 51st St. Franklin Wi 53132). A funeral service will take place immediately following the visitation at 11:30am. A private burial will take place at Wisconsin Memorial Park (13235 W. Capitol Dr. Brookfield Wi 53005).

Our deepest condolences to Jim’s family. I enjoyed getting to know him at the Milwaukee Accordion Club. He loved to play drums at our annual picnic and always had a beautiful smile. May He rest in peace.
