Dedicated dad to Carl (Sandy) Jahns, Christal Pelzek, Cherie (Dan) Large, Chad (Beth) Jahns. Also survived by nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and friends.
Born in Milwaukee, WI Gary was a proud and longtime resident of Oak Creek. Gary proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. In later years, his service became a source of deep pride, and he cherished the time spent reconnecting with fellow Marines at reunions.
A devoted Lutheran, Gary was a longtime member of St. John’s and Trinity Lutheran Church, where he freely offered his time and talents to others. Whether helping with home or school projects or volunteering with Builders for Christ, he was always ready to lend a hand.
Gary built a lifelong career as a union electrician and retired with pride in his trade and the friendships he formed along the way.
Family always came first with Gary. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed motorcycling, snowmobiling, hunting, water skiing, and riding ATVs. He will be remembered by family and friends as a mentor, a man of faith, and someone who could fix just about anything.
Many thanks to the hematology oncology nurses at Milwaukee VA hospital and Gary’s hospice team, Ghazi, Mindy and Courtney.
