1950  –  2024

Passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, February 17, 2024 at the age of 73.  Preceded in death by his beloved wife Sharon M. Pogorzelski (nee Davidowski) and his parents Frank and Irene Pogorzelski (nee Sopa).  He is the cherished father of Bryan (Crystal) Pogorzelski.  Loving grandfather of Connor and Isabel Pogorzelski.  Dear brother of Carol (Lee) Potrykus, Mark Pogorzelski, Janice Pogorzelski, Marcia (the late Jeff) Edgar, and Joyce Pogorzelski.  Further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Gene was a proud U.S. Army Veteran, receiving a Purple Heart serving during the Vietnam War.  Gene retired from A.O. Smith/ Tower Automotive as a frame inspector with over 30 years of service.  He was affectionately referred to as “Honorary Mayor of North Pulaski Street”

Family and friends will gather to celebrate Gene on Saturday, March 9, 2024 at the Heritage Funeral Home 1901 N. Farwell Avenue, Milwaukee, WI 53202 from 12:00 PM until time of the Memorial Service at 2:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers memorials to the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) are appreciated.

    We will miss you Gene. It was great working with you at AO Smith I remember you well from there and the time you spent with us at the plant. Also how my wife knew your wife and grew up across the playground from your street. Rest In Peace.

    So so very sorry to hear of Genes passing.
    We go way back to grade school and have had many fun times.

    I’ve known Eugene for over 60 years and have many fond memories of him. We went to grade school together and remained friends throughout the years.
    He was always available to answer questions about, and usually fix, any computer issues I had.
    He will be missed..

    While i did not know Gene well I knew him well enough to realize now that he’s gone he is and surely will be missed.
    I met Gene at Metro Market in Shorewood where I work part time and always enjoyed seeing Gene walk thru that door
    as did many others who had the pleasure of talking and laughing with Gene there.. A Purple Heart recipient who would have done it again
    for the love of his country. I salute you,Gene. Memories of The Mayor of Pulaski St. will bring smiles. My condolences go out to Gene’s family,friends & loved one’s.
    Must’n’t forget he was a proud grandfather.
