Earl ”EJ” Halverson

July 4, 2025, age 63 years. EJ was the beloved son of Melody Gensler, the late Earl (Mickey) Halverson, and was the stepson of Sonny Gensler. The cherished father of Shawanna Campbell Lindenberg. The Loving brother of Kim (Ron) Heyen and Scott Halverson. The loving uncle of Jackie (Jason) Gailey, Nick (Stephanie) Heyen, and Stephanie Newman. He was the great-uncle of Noah, Finnegan, Mason, Josephine, Garrison, and Leon. EJ is further survived by his dearest friend Bernice Campbell, his four-legged “kids” Jerry and Grizzly, many dear cousins and other relatives, as well as countless friends who he considered family.
EJ was known for his quick wit, friendliness, and lifelong loyalty to his friends. He was generous, always ready to help, and valued both family and his tribe of close-knit friends.
EJ loved the open road. It was that love that led him to own his own trucking company – eventually owning multiple trucks and driving many miles over the years.
EJ was very artistic. When he began cooking, he found he had a passion for gourmet cooking and loved preparing gourmet meals for both family and friends whenever he had the chance. EJ worked various jobs over the years, but again, it was when he got a job as a specialty painter that his artistic talent shone, especially in customized faux-finished painting.
EJ enjoyed boating. Maybe it was the effortless gliding across the water, wind whipping through his hair and beard, made it fun. But of his many hobbies and pastimes, it was riding his Harley that EJ enjoyed the most. The social aspect of riding with others was exhilarating for him and the camaraderie he shared while riding in “the pack” brought him true joy.
At the end of the day, it was his family and friends who were the most important thing to EJ. Family and friends confided in him and trusted him. He was a truly giving person. EJ was one-of-a-kind – he had a generous heart and a kind spirit and he will be truly missed by all who were fortunate to have known him.
EJ’s family wishes to thank the nurses and staff at Froedtert Menomonee Falls for their kindness and compassionate care for not only EJ, but for them as well – it is truly appreciated.
Memorials are appreciated in lieu of flowers.

EJ was the general contractor on our kitchen remodel about three years ago. Just as you described him here, it’s what we loved about him. I was saddened to learn recently about this diagnosis. I pray that his latter days were as fruitful as his life. We will always remember him when we are enjoying our kitchen space and all the stories he shared with us throughout the process. Sending our sincere condolences.

I’m gonna cry when you die

    Your lifetime spawned it’s legends
Like many characters from a book
But I knew the man behind them
Because you gave me a closer look

And the tales of your adventures
May be embellished or straight out lies
But it was all for entertainment
    or education in our lives

You shared your self with others
Helping some to tow the line
    Bestowing fruits of knowledge
Before they rotted on the vine

And for those who’ve seen your evils
Or known intentions all but good
Remember no one here is perfect
So we forgive you as we should

I love you and I miss you
    But forget you never will
And I’m thankful that the memories
    Of our moments linger still

And I’m sorry if I failed you
At any time in any way
And I’ll long for our reunion
    Until my dying day

So as you enter into heaven
Say a kind word for us all
    Be our guardian angel
Lest we stumble or we fall

And now your song is over
Your life’s well has run dry
And the only task before us
Is to smile and say goodbye

I’m gonna cry when you die
I’m gonna cry when you die

To my dear friend EJ….. I want to first thank you for being my dear friend for so many years. You were always there for me like a brother when I needed you, and I always looked forward to spending our time together. I still remember putting on our silk shirts in your mothers house as we got ready to head to the “Circus” Disco to dance the night away and how we always enjoyed going to “Solly’s” to enjoy a burger together or spending the day on the boat. I will miss you VERY much and will never forget the friendship that we enjoyed over so many years. We shared many things in common but most importantly how we respected our parents and always took care of them along the way and never forgot our family values. I extend my sincere condolences to your family along with all of our friends that truly loved you so very much.

Rest in piece my friend and know that I will think of you often until we see each other again. I’m going to miss you EJ……….

EJ. you were one of a kind.
As the song goes “You did it your way”!
It seems like only yesterday you were my
    little cousin EJ.
The last time I saw you, You towered over me by about a foot!
You certainly could be considered a “Renaissance Man”.
You were a man of many talents.and you mastered them all!
One memory that stands out in my mind:
My Mom who was in her late 80’s, came to visit for a family reunion many years ago.
She like you “had a fire in her belly “.
You told her “Hang on Aunt Jo”!! And off you both went. She and you scared “the living daylights out of many of her brothers and sisters .
No worries. She,and you had a Blast!!!
You gave her a memory she would never forget.
Throughout your life you did the same thing for all who came in contact with you.
Heaven is going to get a great addition to it’s Pack!!

My husband Jeff and I met EJ a few years ago and quickly became close friends. I will forever be grateful for his kindness and generosity.

EJ had a unique ability to make everyone feel like the most important person in the room. Everywhere we went, he knew someone, and they were always happy to see him. That was a testament to the kind of person he was.

My dear friend, words cannot express how much you will be missed. Cheers to you, EJ. Until we meet again.

Our deepest condolences to the family.
