Donald W. Neuwirth
Donald William Neuwirth was born on August 6, 1936, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the oldest of 5 children born to Henry Jr. and Elizabeth (nee Nagel) Neuwirth. He was baptized on September 13, 1936, at Trinity Lutheran Church. He graduated from Custer High School in Milwaukee in June 1954, where he became a member of the National Honor Society, played football, and was the elected Prom King.
After high school, Don enlisted in the United States Air Force. After basic training and some time spent at Scotts Air Force Base in Illinois, Don was stationed in Japan for 2 years. During his time there, he trained as an aircraft mechanic. He was also part of the Base’s traveling football team, which he loved as it allowed him to see other parts of Japan. In his free time, Don joined bowling leagues and developed his love for golf. He golfed whenever he could because, as he put it, it was cheap entertainment.
Upon Don’s discharge, he spent time with his future wife, Pat, whom he met on a blind date 2 weeks before he left for Japan. Through many letters, their love blossomed and they were married on April 30, 1960, one year after his return.
After the military, Don worked as a draftsman before changing to a career in material handling. Later, he became the owner of the business.
Don had many interests and talents. He played the accordion, baseball, tennis, golf, basketball and jogging. He enjoyed woodworking, and he could make and fix anything. Don was happy serving on many boards at his various churches. He also loved his vegetable garden!
Don and Pat enjoyed traveling, ballroom dancing, and spending time with their family. They were married for 63 years when Pat was called home to be with Jesus. Don finished his race and won his victory on September 8, 2026. He was the loving father of Sandra (Joel) Sebald and Mark (Linda) Neuwirth. Don was the proud grandfather of Andrew (Christine) Sebald, Emily (Johnathon) Kammueller, Philip (Amanda) Sebald, and Michelle (Brandon) Luppen, and great grandpa to Dakota, Alice, Ezra, Finn, Zavi, Henry, Lilliana, Caleb, Benjamin, Gideon, Rosalie, Zoe, and Theodore. Don is preceeded in death by Pat, his son, Mark, his parents, and his brother, Ken.
When asked about his philosophy of life for a class reunion, Don replied-Be Yourself, Be Honest in what you do, and do everything to the Glory of God! That was Don!
Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called. 1 Timothy 6:12
Visitation will take place on Saturday, September 12, 2026 from 9 am – 10:45 am at MOUNT CALVARY LUTHERAN CHURCH (1941 Madison St. Waukesha, WI) with a funeral service to follow at 11 am.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Mt. Calvary Ev. Lutheran Church, the Parkinson’s Foundation, American Heart Association, Cancer research or the charity of your choice.
