Age 86, Passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 13, 2026. Beloved husband of the late Doris (Nee Krumnow). Loving father of Darryl (Kathy) and David (Sylvia). Dear Grandfather to Stephanie (Luke) and Kristine. Cherished Great-Grandfather to Madison, Logan and Melody. Dear brother-in-law to Robert (Sumiko) and Bev (Charles). Loving uncle to many nieces and nephews. Also survived by other relatives and friends.
Dennis was born in the small farm community of Pepin, Wisconsin. He moved to Franklin with his parents at a young age and attended St Paul’s grade school and has since been a member of St Paul’s Church. He met Doris Krumnow at St Paul’s who would become the love of his life.
In the summer he stayed with his Aunts and Uncles in Pepin working on their farms. He had fond memories of community harvest time and endless feasts! After high school he attended ITT technical college. He earned an associates degree in electronics, and was class valedictorian.
The first job he took out of college was in Cedar Rapids Iowa. After realizing that he missed his sweetheart he moved back to Wisconsin. He then worked at AC Delco as a manager of an electrical assembly department. He then moved on to IBM, taking a field service position, where he worked on early 1960’s punch card computers. Over the next 4 decades he had the great opportunity to work on a vast array of evolving technology.
When he was 12 years old he took accordion lessons and had joined up with a young friend who played drums, they played music at small parties. Later on they joined up with a saxophone player and bass guitarist and played for weddings and parties. Their band was called The Saturday Knights! They played polkas, classic country and early rock n roll.
Dennis enjoyed more than a few hobbies. He was a master fisherman, golfer and enjoyed the camaraderie of the Krumnow family deer hunt! He liked tinkering with his fishing boat gadgets, working on cars and doing tasks around the house and in the yard. He could fix or repair just about anything and enjoyed doing it.
Dennis was one of the kindest people you could know. You just had to look at him and you could feel it radiating from him. His faith in God is an inspiration. His willingness to help his family and friends with anything and everything is a trait that truly stands out. He was funny and witty without being hurtful. Dennis was a good hearted person and has passed along that gentle nature to both of his sons. He was our wise yet very humble mentor. His loving guidance has carried through the generations and will continue on. The greatest love and pride of Dennis’s life was family. His wife Doris, his two sons Darryl and David, Grand daughters and Great Grand children were his pride and joy. His love for us is illustrated in his faith and actions towards God as he has set an example for us. He has selflessly given us all so much, we are all grateful.
In lieu of flowers memorials to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church would be appreciated.
Its a tough experience no matter how old we are. We have the great hope of eternal life from Jesus ransom.
