Charles
Kronenwetter

Born to Eternal Life on Sunday, March 1, 2026, age 82 years.   Loving Husband of Barbara.  Dear father of Ann(Nick Turner) Kronenwetter and John Kronenwetter.  Proud grandfather of Eddy and Eleanor.

Charlie was a proud, longtime resident of New Berlin and a devoted member of Holy Apostles Church. For more than 40 years, he faithfully served our nation’s veterans through his work at the VA, a role he carried with quiet dedication and integrity. He was also an active member of the Lions Club, where he generously gave his time and leadership.  He enjoyed his time serving  as a commissioner of the 4th of July Parade.  In addition, he volunteered at the East Troy Railroad Museum for many years. He took his family on numerous family vacations out West, through the Rockies, and to Yellowstone.

Charlie found joy in life’s simple and meaningful moments. He loved a his nightly games of Scrabble with his wife.  They enjoyed going to McDonalds often, reliving their first date.  He spent countless hours when he was younger as a ham radio operator connecting with friends near and far, and never missed an opportunity to cheer on his beloved Green Bay Packers. Saturday errands were a treasured ritual. He carried a deep appreciation for the past — often reminiscing about growing up on 13th Street in Milwaukee under the canopy of towering elm trees, riding the old streetcar to Schuster’s and the great Blizzard of 1947, and going with his dad to watch the trains roll by.

Above all, what made Charlie happiest was seeing his children, staying connected to the memories that shaped him, and sharing his life with his beloved wife. His steady presence, wry humor, and unwavering love for his family will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 11 at Holy Apostles, 16000 W. National Ave. from 10-11:45AM.  A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 12PM.

Dear Barbara , Ann and John,
I am so sorry for your loss. Charles truly loved his family and attended many family functions. It is so sad that another Kronenwetter is gone. There aren’t many of us left.
I’m sorry but my health will prevent me from attending his services. I will be there in spirit.

Chuck was my first boss after I graduated from MSOE, in the late 1970’s, at the VA Hospital. He taught me all about computers, a PDP-12 back then: how to both fix and program them. He always was fast with a smile, thoughtful stare at a problem, and willing to help others when assistance was needed. His insight and mentoring helped all those who came in contact with him. He will be missed.

My brother, Bob Stiglitz, worked with Charlie at the VA hospital and thought very highly of him.
Maybe now they can reconnect in Heaven.
    RIP Charlie.

I got to know Charlie at the VA in the ‘70s when he advised the GI Laboratory on acquiring a computer. He and I spent many lunches at McDonald’s, or Arby’s, talking about the merits, or not, of DEC computers.

After he and Barb got together our families socialized. We remember how Charlie always had a pertinent quip. He’ll be missed.
