Carol Klug

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Carol Jean Klug, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who left this world on October 11, 2025, surrounded by her loving family at the age of 90. Born on December 29, 1934, in Watertown, Wisconsin, Carol lived a full and rich life, cherishing her family above all.

Carol’s journey through life was marked by her vibrant love for gardening, where she found joy in nurturing flowers that bloomed as beautifully as her heart. An avid cook, she was known for her delicious meals that brought family and friends together. Carol had a special affection for the color blue and the serenity of angels, which often graced her home and served as sources of comfort and inspiration.

Carol was a proud mother to her son, Jay (Lori) Klug, and her daughters, Kathie Klug, Teri (Dell) Gumieny, and Diane (Skip) Shipley. Her legacy lives on in her family, including her ten cherished grandchildren; Brian, Melissa, Jasmine, Taylor, Jonathon, Ashley, Jason, Heather, Jenny and Justin and sixteen beloved great-grandchildren; Vanessa, Ashton, Sophia, Brady, Isaiah, Wyatt, Zachary, Sienna, Nathan, Jeremiah, Emma, Jack, Madelyn, Jace, Scarlett, Weston and Brooke. They all knew her as a loving matriarch with an unwavering spirit and a warmth that would light up any room.

Carol was one of twelve children born to the late Harvey and Margit Buss (nee Ustad). She is survived by her siblings Pat Boyd, Curt Buss, Phil (Nancy) Buss and Terry (Donna) Buss.

Those who had the privilege of knowing Carol often remarked on her generous heart, one of the largest and kindest they had ever encountered. She touched many lives with her gentle kindness and will be deeply missed by all.

A memorial service will be held to celebrate her life on November 1, 2025, at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church (1305 N 9th St, Watertown). Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM, followed by the memorial service at 1:00 PM.

Carol will forever live on in the hearts of her family and friends, and we invite all who knew and loved her to join us in honoring her memory. May she rest in peace, surrounded by the beauty of the gardens she adored and the love she so freely gave.
