Barbara Ann Myers went to be with Jesus, her Savior, on Sunday, October 12, 2025 at the age of 89.
Barbara was born on a farm in Eldorado, Oklahoma, where her family sharecropped in Eldorado and Melrose, New Mexico. Growing up in a farming community, her childhood was filled with horseback riding, target shooting, and hard work. She also developed a love for music and sports, playing piano and basketball during her high school years. After graduation, Barbara left the farm and headed to Long Beach, California, where she worked on the Midway carnival as a skilled rifle shooter. In 1962, she pursued a career in nursing, attending St. Mary’s in Roswell, New Mexico. She graduated second in the state on her board exams and received her LPN license, later working at Clovis Memorial Hospital. It was in Clovis that she met the love of her life, Bob. The two married and shared nearly 62 wonderful years together before his passing. As an Air Force wife and devoted mother of three daughters, Barbara skillfully balanced family life with her nursing career. She especially loved working at VA hospitals at the various bases where they were stationed, including assignments in Michigan, Texas, Turkey, and Utah. After 22½ years of military service, Barbara and Bob retired to his home state of Wisconsin, where she continued her nursing career at the Milwaukee VA Hospital. In Wisconsin, Barbara became an active member of Layton Avenue Baptist Church. She served in many roles—singing in the choir, teaching Sunday school with her beloved flannel Bible figures, leading children’s programs and Vacation Bible School, and sewing countless costumes for church plays as an accomplished seamstress. She kept her nursing license active so she could serve as the camp nurse for children’s ministries and was faithfully involved in the church prayer chain. Barbara loved to study the Bible. She took many of the Bible Seminary courses offered at the church. In her later years, Barbara worked as a school bus driver, where her warmth and cheerful spirit made her a favorite among the children she transported. After retirement, Barbara cherished spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She rarely missed a sports game, recital, or school event, always cheering them on.

Love and deepest condolences . Barbara will live in our hearts forever.
I have so many great memories of Barbara Ann growing up, especially when she lived with us while she was attending St. Mary’s in Roswell, New Meexico. So beautiful, so kind, so loved.
I remember Barbara stayed with us in the early 50’s, when mom, dad and I lived in Lomita, Ca. She was very pretty. I still have a photo of her at Knotts Berry Farm.
Our condolences at this time
She loved the Lord and was a faithful servant during her life , she will be missed , we are glad that she she is receiving her eternal reward but she will be missed by friends and family!🙏🏻❤️
Barbara has been a very special part of my life for as long as I can remember and even before. Our families lived in close proximity in Texas, New Mexico and Oklahoma for most of my early life and adulthood so it was only natural to stay close whiile she and Bob traveled and ultimately made their home in Wisconsin. Barbara was a beautiful person both inside and out and was a most cherished friend and cousin. I will miss her. Am thinking of all whose lives she blessed and sending love and prayers to each of you.
Barb will be missed dearly, she was sweet and kind and sometimes a little witty and would speak her mind, which was so cute 😍 Now may she R.I.P.. and be with the love of her life,Bobby (who we all miss too.)
Barb was a great Christian lady who served the Lord with all her heart. I sat in on quite a few Sunday School classes with her. The children loved her and she loved sharing the stories of the Lord with them. Barb set an exemplary example of a great Christian woman. Now she’s spending her eternity with Jesus Christ! We will all miss her.
