Anthony Paul Rodenkirch

Anthony Paul Rodenkirch, affectionately known as Tony, passed away peacefully at home on October 24, 2026, with his nephew, Paul by his side and under the compassionate care of his hospice nurse, Jessica.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Michael Rodenkirch and Dorothy Rose Rita Rodenkirch (nee Holzbauer), and his siblings, Joan Powalisz, Michael Rodenkirch, Jerome Rodenkirch, Frank Rodenkirch, Theresa Peterke and Christine Lindstrum. He is survived by his siblings, Ronald Rodenkirch (Shirley), Maryannette David, Jane Keuler (Paul), Dorothy Rodenkirch, and John Rodenkirch; along with many nieces, nephews and relatives.
Family was the love of Tony’s life. He remembered his childhood with remarkable clarity and spoke affectionately of his mother and father, the family homes on 11th Street and 28th Street, his mother’s delicious meals, and the many adventures he shared with his siblings.
Tony’s love of nature began early. He spent countless childhood hours exploring the “lumpy field” near his home and the creek in the nearby park. He and his siblings raised birds, collected insects, and spent their summer days outside.
Music filled the family home, where Tony’s parents and siblings played instruments and sang. Among the family’s treasured memories are musical recordings, one of which is Tony during the Beatles era, giving a lively rendition of “I’ll Cry Instead.” He particularly loved Bob Dylan, Donovan, and the Beatles. Whether listening to records with his siblings, learning songs on his guitar, or performing at family gatherings, music remained an important part of his life.
Tony also expressed his affection through art. Throughout his life, and especially in later years, he created cards for family members, adding little notes and drawings of flowers, hearts, and holiday images. These small works of art became meaningful reminders of his thoughtfulness.  He sometimes included a little trinket, coins or slides of people and things from the past.
His musical performances were always a highlight of family get-togethers. Tony especially enjoyed the annual “Corn Roast” at the home of his oldest brother, Ronald, a beloved family tradition held near the end of each summer.
Of all the holidays Tony depicted in his handmade cards and drawings, Halloween was his favorite. Its arrival each autumn will now carry a special reminder of him.
Visitation will take place on Saturday, November 7, 2026 from 10 am – 12 pm at HERITAGE FUNERAL HOME (6615 W. Oklahoma Ave. Milwaukee, WI) with a funeral service to follow at 12 pm. Private entombment at ST. ADALBERT CEMETERY.
