Annette Louise Schumacher
Annette Louise Schumacher (nee Reiter), 85, of Brookfield, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on May 27, 2025. Annette was born on August 17, 1939, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, the daughter of Carl and Elsie Reiter. She is survived by husband, Gordon Robert Schumacher, brother C. Thomas Reiter, sister Ellen Moog, brother-in-law Russell Schumacher, sister-in-law Lynda Schumacher, children David Schumacher (Margaret), Susan Hensch (Tim), and Paul Schumacher (Gail), five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
Annette married Gordon on August 18, 1962, at Emmaus Lutheran Church in Fort Wayne, Indiana. She attended Concordia High School in Fort Wayne, and Concordia College (now University) in River Forest, Illinois. Annette was a beloved teacher at St. Paul’s Lutheran School in Melrose Park, Illinois; Trinity Lutheran School in Rantoul, Wisconsin; and Northwest Lutheran School in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Annette expressed her faith in the Lord through her writing. She published a book (Principal on the Roof), a collection of devotions (Steppingstones for Seniors), and many individual devotions in several publications including Hope-Full Living. She passed along her love of reading and writing to her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and students. She enjoyed boating, biking, playing cards, and most of all, spending time with family. She could often be found sitting on a boat or lakeside bench, enjoying her latest book or writing project, while watching the sunset over the water. She named their boat “Carpe Diem,” and she did her best to ‘seize the day’ every day of her life. She was dearly loved and will be missed.
Visitation for Annette will be held Saturday, May 31, 2025 from 10:00am until the time of service at 11:30am at Hales Corners Lutheran Church (12300 W. Janesville Rd., Hales Corners, WI)
Donations in Annette’s memory may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association or the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
