William Paul
McKillen

McKillen, William P.

85. of Greendale, formerly of Waukegan, IL. Resting now from his labors on behalf of so many. Beloved husband of Joan (nee Sundstrom), loving father of Susan, Thomas, Kathleen, Steven, and Maynard(Jenny). Dear grandfather of Colleen. Served his union brothers and sisters as president of local 1346, AFGE. Served his fellow citizens for 32 years in the Social Security Administration from offices in Indiana, Illinois and Wisconsin, following service as a letter carrier in the US Postal Service, and two tours of duty in the US Army. A graduate of Lake Forest College, he went on to receive his MBA from Indiana University.

Bill invested in the future by planting many trees. An inveterate collector in his later years, he enjoyed hunting for beer steins and old tools at estate sales, and his musical tastes ran from Andre Rieu and the Johann Strauss Orchestra, to the scores of David Lean movies, to Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 25th, 2016, from 10am to 12 noon, eulogy to follow, at Heritage Funeral Home, 9200 S. 27th St., Oak Creek, WI.

A second service will be held on Friday, February 26th, at the chapel on the grounds of Ascension Cemetery, 1920 Buckley Rd., Libertyville, IL, from 10am to 10:20am. Bill’s fervent wish was to be laid to rest beside his parents and those family members who predeceased him.

We offer special thanks to the professionals at Zablocki and Wood VA hospitals, Cameo Care and Oak Crest Villa for years of service and care on Bill’s behalf. Goodbye, Dad. You own a corner in so many hearts.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Milwaukee Center for Independence or Curative Care Network, appreciated.
