William John Newkirk

William J. Newkirk. Sunday, September 21st, 2014, age 92. Loving husband of the late Elizabeth “Betty” Newkirk (nee Kern)for 58 years. Father of Thomas (Marsha), William (Linda), Richard (Karen), and James (Peggy Sue). Brother of George (Maureen) Newkirk. Dear companion of Elsie Tyrell. Also survived by 11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation Thursday, September 25th, 2014 from 9am to 11 am at THE FUNERAL HOME. Funeral service to follow, at 11am. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery.

William owned and operated Newkirk Service Station and the Dog ‘n’ Suds with his brother, George, for a number of years. He was the president of North Side Kiwanis, and when he moved to Florida, helped to manage various hotel properties. He loved spending time in Eagle River, dining out, Happy Hour, and volunteering at the Sheriff’s department in Port Charlotte, Florida.
