    Mrs. Gielow-
So sorry to hear of Bill’s passing.
My husband Rick and I both had the pleasure of working for Bill at MPD. Rick at District One and myself at District Two. He was a great boss and mentor. I remember when I got promoted to the Detective Bureau, he gave me one of the most genuine fatherly hugs I have ever received.
Our deepest sympathies to you and your family.
    Regards-
    Cameo Barbian-Gayan and Richard Gayan

I had the great pleasure of working with Bill several times during his career. He was a mentor for me but, more importantly, he was a friend.

Please accept my deepest sympathy for your loss.

    Ed Majkowski (MPD Lieutenant)

Not many people serve the Department for that long a time period anymore. He joined when Harold Breier was Chief and served under three other Chiefs. When I joined in 1981 he was my Lieutenant at the First District. Later, he was my Captain and when I made Lieutenant he was my Deputy Chief. Through the years our interactions were always positive. He was smart and he was funny. He was a good boss and I believe he was a good person. Rest in peace. I’m sure he had a positive influence on many many people.

    First he was my client,
    Then he became a colleague,
    And then my friend.
    I will miss our lunches.
    I will miss your kindness.
I am better for having known you.
How many people can you say that about?
    Peace to you Bill
    Godspeed Georgiann

I thought the world of him. We connected when I worked on Mitchell Street. I believe he helped me understand cops’ jobs.

Hi Mrs. Gielow this is your former student from cottage 5 from St. Amelians Michael Schiebenes writing to you telling you how sorry I was to hear about the death of your husband Bill on Wednesday march 13th of this year. I also wanted to tell you that Mrs. Joan Kleinhenz passed away on Monday November 20th of this year. She turned 92 on Friday November 17th of this year. She was a fine lady & a very nice person. I also wanted to tell you that my parents are both deceased too. M y dad died of a massive heart attack on march 4th 1978 during my junior year in high school. I had my whole senior high school year to go through. He did’nt live long enough to see my sister Terri & I graduate from high school & recently on August 11th of 2021 my sister Terri passed away at the age of 60 years old. Now I am all alone in this world now. I have a few cousins in Illinois & that is it. I sure do remember that Christmas skit where I played Santa claus & Willie Cherry played Rudolph & you & my mother worked together. Boy do I remember those fond memories. I remembered saying good bye to you & Mrs. Kleinhenz in 1972 when I left St. Amelians & moved out to Cedarburg which is where I still live today I absolutely love Cedarburg. I really would like to hear from you sometime. My telephone number is area code 262-377-6631. give me a call sometime maybe we could either meet for breakfast or lunch whichever you want. it would be great to see you again. keep in touch & take care. by the way the date that Mrs. Kleinhenz passed away was November 20th of last year of 2023 not this year. Excuse me my mistake, anyway keep in touch & take care, I’m looking forward to hearing from you. Sincerely yours & your former student Michael Schiebenes. by the way my dad was 49 years old when he died. My mother passed away on January 6th 1983 at the age of 58 years old. I ‘d just thought I’d let you know. Talk to you soon.
