Valkyrie Athena Bonner
Valkyrie Athena Bonner, a precious daughter, beloved sister, granddaughter, and deeply cherished little girl, was born on September 10, 2026, to her loving parents, Leah (nee Brito) and Christopher Bonner. After 19 precious days surrounded by love, Valkyrie passed away peacefully on September 29, 2026.
Although her time here was far too short, Valkyrie made an immeasurable mark on the hearts of everyone who loved her. Nineteen days may seem like only a moment in a lifetime, but to her family, those 19 days held a lifetime of love, tenderness, hope, and memories that will never be forgotten.
From the moment Valkyrie entered the world, she was treasured beyond words. Her parents cherished every moment they were given with their precious daughter, and her brothers, Connor and Wes, will forever carry the love of their baby sister in their hearts. She was their little girl, their baby sister, and a beautiful part of their family whose place can never be filled.
Valkyrie’s nursery was lovingly prepared in a soft pastel farming theme, with shades of green, yellow, and purple. It was a reflection of the love and anticipation with which her family welcomed her into their lives. Every little detail prepared for her was created with dreams of the days, months, and years they hoped to share together.
Valkyrie will be forever loved and remembered by her parents, Leah and Christopher; her brothers, Connor and Wes; her grandparents, Linda and Ceser Brito, Michael Bonner, and Dave and Sandy Schneider; other family members, and friends. She was also deeply loved by Leah’s colleagues and friends at Bradley Tech, who had already welcomed Valkyrie into their hearts and lovingly became part of her extended family as “aunts and uncles”. They shared in the joy of her arrival and now share in the heartbreak of her loss. The love and support surrounding Valkyrie and her family reached far beyond their immediate family, a reminder of just how many lives this precious little girl touched in her short time here.
There are no words that can adequately describe the heartbreak of losing a child, especially one who was given such a short time to experience this world. But there is also no measure for the love that Valkyrie brought into the lives of her family. She will always be their daughter, their sister, their granddaughter, and their precious little girl.
A memorial visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 6, from 4 – 6 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Homes (4800 S. 84th Street, Greenfield).
Though her tiny footprints were only here for a little while, they are forever imprinted upon the hearts of those who loved her.
The family would like to thank the CICU and NICU staff at Children’s Hospital for the loving care and support they gave Valkyrie and her family. Their kindness and compassion will never be forgotten.
