Trần Trung Hiếu

Hieu Tran was born on January 6, 1964 in Sai Gon, Vietnam, and left for a better place on December 30, 2020.

He was preceded in death by his late mother Mong-Nga.

Loving husband to Phuong Le. Devoted son to Hop Tran (Lan Nguyen). Dependable big brother to Hanh Tran (Quang Le), Hau Tran (Uyen Le), Hien Tran, and Hang Tran (Ryan Walczak). Caring uncle to many nephews and nieces. Respected big brother to many within the family’s close friends group.

He became a Cub Scout at the age of 8. At the age of 11, he assumed the role of head of household to support his mother and 4 younger siblings while his father was detained in a re-education camp at the end of the Vietnam War.

Following multiple attempts, in 1979, he, his father and two younger brothers were among the “Boat People” who escaped Vietnam in search of a better life for the entire family. Their boat landed in Malaysia, and they were subsequently transferred to Indonesia before settling in Milwaukee in 1980. His mother and two sisters were reunited with the family in 1986.

In 1987, he graduated with honors from the Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering.

For most of the 22 years, he single-handedly provided desktop support for the Milwaukee County Federated Library System as a Network Administrator / PC Support Manager.

Hieu was the type of person who always selflessly put others’ needs before his own. He dedicated a lot of time and effort towards community work. He was actively involved in building many temples, including one in Malaysia and two in Milwaukee: Phuoc Hau and Tu Bi temples.

His passing left a void in the hearts of many. His genuine friendship and limitless amount of generosity has touched the lives of everyone he crossed paths with.

Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, January 9th, 2020 at Heritage Funeral Home, 9200 S. 27th Street, Oak Creek, WI 53154.

Visitations will be from 2pm-5pm.

    Hien & family Tran:
Just heard the shocked news with your brother. I’m so sorry to you and your family for your loss.
It’s harder for the left behind than the departed. We all know how this goes as we lost our dad not too long ago before Thanksgiving 2020.
Again, our condolences to you all.

I was saddened to hear of Hieu’s passing. With his quiet dignity, technology skills and always reliable work ethic he was an invaluable employee to the Library System. But, at the same time, he was always just a kind, patient and good human being.
My condolences to his family. He will be remembered.
