Theresa Woeller
74, of Greenfield, WI, passed away peacefully on April 1st, 2025 surrounded by her family and
under hospice care at home, after a courageous battle with Glioblastoma for two years and
seven months.
Born on May 4th, 1950, in Blandburg, PA, Theresa was the daughter of Wendell Jr. and
Josephine Benak. She moved to Toledo, OH, in high school, where she met the love of her life,
Art. She graduated from the University of Toledo and worked as an Insurance Agent. Theresa
and Art were married for 52 wonderful years and raised their two daughters, Beth and Stacey.
They moved to North Carolina in 1991 and ultimately to Wisconsin in 1999, where they made
their home.
Theresa’s greatest joys in life were her children and grandchildren. She was a devoted mother
and grandmother, finding deep fulfillment in spending time with her beloved grandchildren:
Matthew, Breanna, Ezra, and Elsie. From sleepovers to shopping, baking, and crafts, to
attending their games and performances, she was always their biggest supporter. She looked
forward to their yearly family vacations to Myrtle Beach, SC.
Theresa’s faith was central to her life. She was an active member of her church and participated
in mission trips to Tanzania and Guatemala, bringing her deep sense of compassion and care to
others. Her love for helping people continued into her retirement, when she volunteered for the
Eras Senior Network, assisting people with transportation to doctor appointments.
Theresa is survived by her husband, Art Woeller; daughters, Beth (Mike) Daly and Stacey (Nick)
Logan; grandchildren, Matthew Daly, Breanna Daly, Ezra Logan, and Elsie Logan; and siblings,
Wendell Benak III (Fran, deceased), Verna Drockton (Jerry), and Melissa Benak. She was
preceded in death by her parents and her brother, James Benak (Nancy).
A funeral service to honor Theresa’s life will be held at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church in Oak
Creek, WI, on April 10th. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m., followed by a funeral mass at
11:00 a.m.
Theresa’s love for her family, her faith, and her generous spirit will live on in the hearts of all who
knew her.
The family wishes to thank the staff at The Waters of Oak Creek and St. Croix Hospice for the
compassionate care they provided.
Also, a special thanks to the staff at the Aurora Cancer Center Neuro-Oncology and the Infusion
Clinic at St. Luke’s Medical Center.
I had opportunity to meet Theresa on several occasions at various family gatherings through my friendship with her daughter Beth. I was fortunate to learn her life story which was so inspiring. She was an example of faith, courage and compassion, attributes she has passed on to her daughter Beth. I’m truly grateful to have met her and while I wasn’t able to have much time with her I feel I know her through her beautiful family. May peace and blessings come to her loved ones knowing she is truly home and this not goodbye, but see you later.
Theresa trained me to be a Eucharistic Minister. Her faith in God inspired me. May she rest in peace.
