OBITUARY
Tammy Turner was born on January 4, 1965, in Peoria, Illinois to parents Gloria Gayton and Thomas Gayson Sr. who nurtured her with affection, courage and steadfast backing. From a young age, she showcased a lively spirit, a compassionate soul, and a natural talent to spread happiness to those nearby.
Whether it was her contagious smile, her caring demeanor, or her skill to transform any moment into a treasured recollection, she was a blessing to all who had the joy of knowing her. She attended school in Peoria, where she shone academically and built meaningful friendships. A hardworking and ambitious individual, she pursued a career in a field where her devotion and passion left a lasting impression on colleagues and clients alike. She was deeply dedicated to her work, always aiming to make a difference and leave a positive mark on the world.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Tammy was a woman of many interests. She found delight in activities such as showing up for events, sharing new experiences, and opening her home as a haven for others. Whether she was hosting family gatherings, discovering new places or cooking meals for loved ones, she infused every experience with enthusiasm and love.
More than anything, Tammy was devoted to her family and friends. She treasured her relationships and was a source of strength, laughter, and unwavering support to those who needed her. Her love for her son Torrence Gayton, her grandchildren Paris, Jada and Torreuna Gayton, her sisters Pamela Gayton, Tonya Gayton, and Yvonne Fuller were boundless. She took great pride in being a loyal daughter, sister, partner, and friend.
She is survived by her husband, Paul Turner; her son, Torrence Gayton; her sisters, Pamela Gayton and Evette Fuller; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and dear friends.
The pain of her loss is overwhelming, yet we find elevation in the memories she left behind. Her spirit will live on in every shared story, every echo of laughter, and every act of love inspired by her example. We will forever carry her in our hearts.
Tributes:
From Tammy’s sister, Pamela:
“To my dearest sister, you were more than just kin – you were my confidante, my biggest cheerleader, and my closest companion. Your humor lit up even the gloomiest days, and your love was a gift I cherished deeply. Though you’re no longer with me, your presence lingers in my heart. Thank you for being someone I could always count on. I love you deeply, and I’ll hold your memory close.”
From Tammy’s son, Torrence:
“Dear Momma, I appreciate you so much. You were the first woman I ever loved, and I will miss you like crazy. I know you are resting easy, but I wish I could hug you one last time. There is no other woman that can take your place. I love you Momma! As your only son, I will continue your legacy that you’ve built.”
From Tammy’s husband, Paul:
“To my wife, we spent 43 years together. You were more than my wife, but also my best friend and companion. We created an unforgettable legacy together. Sticking by my side for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness, and in health, ‘til death do us part. My Love, this is not the end, until we meet again. I love you with every beat in my heart, vein in my blood, and more that the amount of starts in the sky.”
